Has the bottom already fallen out on the 20th Anniv SAE sets?

Even after multiple revisions lowering the price, a no sale at $5900.

Only a single bid at $4000.

Granted, on the second one the business strike is only an MS68. But, it's a tiny part of the set value. The big kahuna reverse proof is a 70, as is the regular proof.

The seller of the 2nd $4,000 set has a feedback rating of only 4. Would you buy a $4,000 item from such a seller? I sure the heck wouldn't.

The MS also isn't a First Strike. I bet that has something to do with it.

I can't imagine there are that many collectors that want to pay 1000's of dollars for a set when you can get it in original packaging for a fraction of that.....

    I would not

Like a fine bottle of wine, the ASE set

must be allowed a period of time to rest,

    before resuming any upward movement.

I wasn't really too surprised that lot did not sell, as there were multiple open bid auctions going on at the same time as my fixed price auction. Those recent open bid auctions showed me that the 3 pc. (70, 70, 69) set is currently trading closer to the $5,000 - $5,500 range. Which, by the way, isn't so shabby either for a $100 -$200 raw set. I plan to adjust my offering price lower on the relist to be a bit more competitive with current adjusted levels.

But, that said, I believe the supply of 70 graded SAE 20th Anniv. coins exceeds the demand right now at former current asking prices of $5,500 - $6,250/set. Sellers are highly motivated to sell these HUGE profit coins to pay off their credit card debt in buying these coins in the first place, so, as I mentioned, I expect to see these sets trading in the $5,000 - $5,500 range in the short run. Just my 2 cents.
