Did you ever notice the hat on card #386-1973 Topps?

It looks like they drew it on him. Anybody know why?

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Look at the back of the card and see if Don was playing with someone else the year before. He changed teams, Topps didn't have a current photo, so they airbrushed one in...er on...er something!
I imagine it's becuase he'd been recently traded from Philly and they didn't have an updated photo. There are a few cards like that in the set. I know there's one for a pitcher who was traded from the Cubs to the Twins and they drew pinstripes on the unifrom and altered his cap, but it's still clearly Wrigley Field in the background... I'll try to dig it up.

Here's the card I was thinking of. It wasn't pinstripes they added but rather an extra stripe on the sleeve and pantleg, and they added a "T" on top of the Cubs "C" on the cap.

Interesting, too, that they used a picture of him pitching in front of the famed ivy at Wrigley field for an AL guy.
