Anyone remember the 1987 Surf Detergent team bbc books?

If I remember correctly, these books were red-hot back in '87. Weren't they going for something like $50 each?? Each chapter showed the Topps cards for each team from 1952-1987. I nabbed one a little after the hubbub died down -- of the Twins, of course:

<< <i>For some reason I dont remember those. Pretty cool though, I had to run right to ebay and put a Yankees one on watch.

No problem! Maybe this post'll shake some out of the woodwork...
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
But never collected them. My wife was a Tide fan.
I wouldn't be surprised if I don't have a few buried somewhere - heck I'm such a pack rat - I still have a bunch of 80s MickeyD transformers along with empty cups and junk like that.

Mike, I always considered myself "King of the Packrats", but, from what you've shared with us, I think you may win the crown! You never cease to amaze me with the treasures from your closet(s)...
Photos That Were Used On Baseball Cards
<< <i>The publisher of these was my main client back in '87, and I had cases of the books in my studio (I"m a photographer, and shot all of their advertising images). They were really well done. $50 each? Damn, I probably had 30 of each title that I gave away to anyone with a kid. >>
Griffins, maybe I can find an article in a magazine from that era to see if it mentions a relative market price. You were sitting on gold and didn't even know it, eh?!
<< <i>I used to see a lot of collectors use them as checklist books when collecting their favorite team. >>
Ah! That would have been a good use for them, unless you paid $50 and didn't want to open it and risk cracking the binding!
I put that little scratch up by the title in my copy the same day I took possession...
<< <i>The big thing that drove the Surf books was the supposed "short printed" books. A couple of teams actually were in the 50.00 plus range and were actually moving at that price! >>
Oh yeah, that sounds familiar -- the short print editions. I've got to find an article from the period...
Thanks for the reminder!

Oh, jeez. I smell another collection starting up. What would you like for your Tigers edition -- a set of the 1981 Topps 15-card National set?!!

I know that the A's ones were since I got mine at a game. I remember because it was the one time that I sat on the lower level for a game.
