VERY cool documentary on the SS Republic right now.

What was it called? Nothing on my PBS station (Portland, OR) with the word "Republic" within 2 weeks including last night. Was it part of another show?

I think it is called "Ship of Gold" or "Civil War Gold" but I am not looking at a listing either. It's a good show though!

Nothing on OPB for 2 weeks with "gold" in the title, but I'll watch for it!

My mom bought Me a framed and nicely matted, certified 2 gold nuggets and a real nicely done story and a picture of Cptn. Herndon! I got it for Christmas last year! I think its a nice gift for a coin collector since a double eagle in ms-65 from that ship goes for around $9000.00! It makes Me sick when i see all of those Double Eagles and Territorial Gold being brought up from the depths of the sea! Well.. at least they rescued the treasure!!

I was unable to find it in my local listing currently but I did find the DVD on PBS's website. It's a National Geographic show so it may be in your listings as simply "National Geographic" on PBS. The title (or subtitle if National Geographic is considred the title) is "Civil War Gold".

NCS and NGC are featured on this program as they cleaned up and slabbed the recovered coins.
