Is eBay a good place to buy a detector?

I looked up Garrett Ace 250's on eBay and some are going for right around 200 bucks plus shipping... Garretts website lists them for 249... would it be safe to buy one on ebay and have it shipped USPS?

    Well it depends, how much is the shipping? Also if you buy it off of ebay and it doesnt work properly you cant just take it back. In my own experiences, I usually buy electronic items new with a warranty unless you can get it at a fraction of the cost new.

    Yea, my neighbor (whos detc. I steal lol) bought his from kellyco and it works GREAT, for a $200 detc.

    While affordability in a detector should always be taken into consideration, I would not base the buying decision solely on whether or not you will get your money back through using it.

    Treat it as a hobby and not a money-making enterprise and you will enjoy it much more.

    It will take me a long time to dig back the money I spent on my DFX but that is not why I bought it. I want to enjoy my hunts and not worry about sitting down at the end of the day to work out a profit/loss statement.

    I just meant that as long as I use it.. I have no doubt I'll use it right away, but I don't want to eventually get discouraged and then have a 200 dollar machine just sitting around.. Better said I don't want it to be an impulse thing...
