I have no idea what they usually sell for, but this one looks very nice. image

Early 20th century coins from Peru are great bargains, the half dineros for instance hardly ever cross the $25 barrier, even when they are in NGC MS66 holders.

It lists in my 2001 Krause at $12 in MS60, but they usually sell for more than that. Check the Heritage auction results for the sale of the Whittier Collection -- it's my recollection that the slabbed 1/5 sols went for a lot more than you paid for this one.

The whittier items were selling for 3-6 times what you normally see items go for on ebay. I got shut out on the 200 items I gave genourous bids for. That pedigree was worth bank, cool collection too. Check completed auctions on ebay instead.

The Whittier Collection included lots of very hard to find coins such as this one. It's unlisted in Krause at that grade and may be the finest known. You won't see something like that on eBay anytime soon. I tried to concentrate on coins like that and was very happy with the value I got for the money.

As for the Peru coins, I don't think the Heritage prices were out of line with what savvy collectors are paying. I bought a raw 1/2 sol from the collection with a mintage of 173,000 that's now in an NGC MS 64 holder, and considered myself lucky to get it for the Krause Unc. price, even with the slabbing fees included.
