    That medal was created to ridicule the many African

    Territorial troops in the French Army, on the Western Front.

    These troops were rather miserable in the cold , wet climate,

    together with not being able to eat their normal food staples.

    Never the less, they proved to be extremely brave and fearless

    on the attack and put a great deal of fear in the German Troops

    that faced them.

    Any idea of what the original medal's meanings were?

    PS - brings a whole new dimension to the saying "Put a helmet on that soldier!"

    Edit - oops. Didn't see Bear's response. What does the sexual images mean?
