    yes.

I'm never particularly fond of Florida teams.

This is one of those games where you throw out hype and records. This is such a rivalry that anyone could win.

  • Florida has underachieved the past couple of seasons, but trust me, they are much improved this year. This will be a sort of coming out party for them. Other teams (Ohio St., ND, USC, LSU, Aub) have been getting a lot of the pub, and UF has been flying under the radar up until now.

Eventually Florida's schedule will catch up with them, but not this week.

    Sorry ddbird.image

P.S. Goose, I have always had admiration for OSU, because without the Buckeyes helping us out by beating an undefeated Arizona St. team in the '97 Rose Bowl, we don't win the National Championship that year. Maybe one day we will return the favor.image

It doesn't matter how good Tennessee is, they always have a chance to win at home, and you can ask any team with the balls to
go there and play. I think the window is closing for Florida and Leak, this is a must win year. This also may be the 4th or 5th toughest
game on Florida's schedule too! Imagine that Ohio State fan!

With Bama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, and Florida St down the road, you are right. This is the 4th or 5th toughest game. The schedule is going to catch up with us somewhere down the road.

Id rather go down 10-7 to an LSU or Georgia, than cruise past Idaho and Montana then *ithc cause my team isn't in the Orange
Bowl. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Good Luck tomorrow, should be crazy down there.

Could be right Gator...could be VERY right.

But based on the atmosphere present here today...I think it will be a tougher game than anticipated.

Depends if our players show up, but it should be a good game. It also depends on who scores the first few.

If Florida comes out strong, it will be a killing...however, UT will take it if they can get a few under their belt.
  • nope....UT is good. But the gators are better. No one is scared of fulmer and they sure are not afraid of rocky top.

  • Well, it's 10-7 at the half, and we've had two punt returns for TD negated by bad officiating. The first one, the UT punter trips our return guy in the open field and prevents the TD, no call. The second, it's a 89-yard TD called back for a block in the back that was clearly wrong.

Oh, and how do you call roughing the passer on a WR reverse pass? Once the WR has the ball, he's fresh meat.

Let the dadgum players decide the game.

Both these teams are tough and good and the game should go down to the wire. Not like those overrated fakers at FSU! image

grote....it only proves that the Noles are great, when you spend every waking moment trying to cut them down. LOL What did you
    go to Toledo or something?

    Kevin,

Actually I could care less about FSUcks, it's just that their fans seem to live in a total fantasy world when it comes to talking about their team. If this team finishes with fewer than 5 losses, it'll be a great year for them.

What's up with Caddy? I've got him on one of my fantasy teams and he's looking like damaged goods already??

  • Fla 21, UT 20.

A lot closer than I thought it would be, but we also had two punt return TD's negated by bad calls in the first half that won't show up in the box score. The refs pretty much let the players settle it in the second half, and this game could have easily went either way. I was actually expecting to see UT kick a late FG to win it by 2.

Our front seven is awesome, but our secondary needs to improve. Tenn had only 2 yards rushing, but had 232 yards passing, exclusively on short throws. We better get better in that area.

Tennessee is a much improved team, much more solid than they were last year. Congrats on a great game.

A win woulda been nice...but it was AWSOME

And Gator a few bad calls for us too...Refs kinda sucked for both teams tonight.

For sure, for sure. Why is it the officiating always plays a prominent role when we play each other?

Gators should have won this game by 17.

Florida killed them in every stat and blew the Vols off the line. UT scored on trick plays, while the Gators had 2 unrealized TDs, one on a bad call during a return; the other a no call tripping call on a return; and what's up w/ intentional grounding in the Inzone....should be a safety....

Gators owned UT. UT racked up 2 total rushing yards.

However I blame the close game primarily on the Gators terrible offensive play calling, they kept running the $hit a$$ option run play that didn't work the first 10 times they call it.....sheesh!

props up to Angie....he made some good throws under pressure.

We got real predicable on offense in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. You could pretty much tell what we were going to do just by looking at our formation. Chris Leak cannot run the spread option. He's no threat to keep it, and gives it to the RB 95% of the time instead of reading the DE, and bringing the WR into play on the pitch. Tim Tebow is a perfect fit in this offense and Meyer has made it clear he is a run-first kinda guy.

I thought our front seven dominated, but why in the world were our safeties playing so deep when they only threw over 15 yards only a couple times? Are we that bad in the secondary that we have to give that much cushion? The jury's still out on our DB's. We better get better in that area. I wish Dee Webb had come back. We sure could use him.

I gotta say though that Ainge is much better. He's much more composed, and he made heady plays. That intentional grounding call could have went either way. He was obviously getting rid of it, but it was a smart play on his part. He let the refs make the call, and they sucked (on both sides), which is typical when we play them.

I still can't believe they missed that tripping call on Colquitt. That TD would have changed the whole complexion of the game.

    BigAl...

    You guys won

    image
  • dd, ya know it's kinda weird. I'm relieved (not happy) that we won. With Spurrier, it always seemed like we lost the close ones, especially with UT.

Just a weird feeling, that's all. Much closer than I would have ever thought.

PSssttt... we lost vs. the noles - chris rix, a few years back in the worst officiated game in CF history...

PSssttt... Sooners lost a heartbreaker against the Quack attack today due to terrible officiating...

PSssttt... Officiating is a huge part of any game....college or pro...and deserves attention; win or lose.
  • Poor officiating plagues every conference. I really wish the NCAA would just go to full-time officials with no conference affiliations. This eliminate any hint of bias. How would you like to know that one of the guys officiating your game is an alum of your rival? I can't speak for other schools, but it has happened at Florida.
