<< <i>Greetings British Royal Mint News Subscriber

The Gold Sovereign is undoubtedly one of the most famous and emotive British coins of all time.

Can you imagine what it was like to use gold coins in everyday transactions, and to have a couple of sovereigns in your purse or pocket? Purchase the Historic Sovereign Collection of 12 carefully selected genuine gold sovereigns minted in the last 150 years, all in at least selected very fine condition, and you will know how it feels to be in possession of such treasures.

The coins feature four British monarchs, the first of which, issued between 1887 and 1892, portrays the controversial Jubilee portrait of Queen Victoria. Future coins depict George V, Elizabeth II and Edward VII and will be sent automatically to you on a monthly basis until your collection is complete.

  • What has happened this year with the Royal Mint?

5 silver Britannias for GBP275 (which I fell for like the sucker I am)

    then

a silver set for GBP200 (which I thankfully didn't fall for - as funds were so low from the brits)

    and now this

plus they charge GBP 29.99 for a silver proof 2 pound coin

Just how much are they going to push for the 2007 proof set

  • I seem to recall them trying to offload svoereign sets some time ago too, was it is 2002 for the special Victoria one?

    Again at in inflated prices

We opened ours, laughed at it, and then tossed it.
