I don't think they've released a price schedule. Here's an interview with Steve Hart on the new service: LINK

That's not a real good argument there. How many of us have spent thousands for a piece of cardboard?

GEM-MT 10: Gem Mint. A PSA Gem Mint 10 pack is a virtually perfect pack that should exhibit pristine corners and edges, which are free of any holes, tears or wear of any sort (including not having any wear to the corner folds). The seal on the reverse must be virtually undisturbed and free of any soiling or toning. The sealed folds on the reverse must also lay flush to the pack and not exhibit any lift from the seal. In addition, the pack must be "fresh" in appearance and free of any water or mildew damage to the wrapper or gum in order to qualify for this grade. There may be an allowance made for a small printing imperfection as long as the pack still shows superb eye appeal.

I'm just saying, are there really people that will pay to buy a graded unopened pack of cards? Maybe, if it's old enough, sure, hell I'd rip the thing open but that's not some people's style. But come on, are there really people that would pay a premium for an unopened pack that has "superb eye appeal"? image

To each his own. In the eyes of most of the world we're all a bunch of freaks, no matter what we collect.

At the National they didn't have a price schedule for grading packs, I was told it would be $20-100 per pack, depending on value. If it's much over $20. pack grading will be DOA.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

    robertpr,

Eye appeal is not specific to cards. Why do coin collectors pay hundreds of dollars over market value becuase a silver coin is "toned"? After all, toning is just oxidation (unless of course, the coin has been "heat treated" to achieve that "rainbow" effect). It's all just relative to the hobby you pursue. To outsiders, all hobbies seem bizarre in many ways, and it's pompous and ignorant to declare that one hobby is more foolish than another.

I didn't say foolish, I said goofy image

I just think applying harsh grading standards to packs is a bit odd. image I have to wonder if the sports card hobby has a need for this or if the grading companies have hoodwinked the sports card hobby into needing it.

Coin grading is even more ridiculous. The difference between an MS-64 Morgan & an MS-65 Morgan can be literally thousands of dollars and virtually no one can tell the difference with the naked eye. I've seen MS-64 coins that belong in MS-66 holders and MS-66 coins that belong in MS-64 holders, so coin collectors are about as hoodwinked as anyone when it comes to grading!

    Hi Robert

My wife thinks everything I collect is goofy.

    Now, onto the packs/package issue.

If we were to open both these packages, each may have a pristine PSA 10 pumping heart - but which
pack(age) would ya give the 10 to?

    image

    image

    So ya see...

The condition of the pack can mean a lot!

I hope a lot of packs get graded PSA 1 - 3, with some
kind of qualifiers. I will buy them cheap and open them.
