North County Coin Show - Anaheim CA (Pics Up)

Went to this show today for the first time in a while. If you live near LA, it's worth a short trip. It's a small, friendly show with about 15-20 tables. Mostly liteside, but several dealers had grey and darkside coins on offer.

About three dealers had greyside stuff, but most was overgraded or cleaned. There were a few nuggets if you looked hard. I picked up an 1861 Nova Scotia 1/2 cent in EF-AU, and a 1864 Nova Scotia 1/2 cent that I think will go 60 or 62 brown. Bought both as AU and both are original IMO.

I've been to that show many times. Ted's coins (aka Koopman Enterprises) has some good boxes of world coins behind the counter.

Last time I saw him he had the best Canada V nickel I've ever seen.
  • If it's the monthly show at Embassy Suites, I have been a couple of times, and made purchases, Ted's Coins does have some nice darkside, I got my 1797 GIII 1P from them.

Not a bad small show.... image

This one Guy in the way back sold mostly darkside. He moved out of state around three months ago.

About Rare Coins, Mike is usually there and is an expert in all things Mexican.

Charmy, the penny lady has all the early us copper.

The old couple right when you walk in to your left (across from Charmy) have some darkside albums and will bargain. They have good prices on U.S. and world coins.

    Good Hunting!

Dang. I drove by there on my way home from church yesterday. I didn't know if the show was going on, so I went to Fry's instead. image

And what kind of second hand computer stuff masquerading as new did you get?

BTW, does the baby have a name or a genderimage Somewhat belated congratulations, and I hope and trust the better half is fine. image

Because of the ding on the date, I'll revise my estimate on the 1861 down to MS-60.

This one I still would call EF-AU. It needs a little acetone bath, but there is a nice coin under the grit. Nice die breaks, also.

Nice pickups. The '61 may still go 62/63 if there are no other hits. And the '64 may go AU55 if there is lustre under the dirt.

Thanks. The baby's name is Erika, and she is definitely a she. Everyone's fine. image

My six-year old probably would have gone with me to the show as long as I bought her something. Even at Fry's she got water color paints and a brush for school.
