I'm headed to a minor league ball game later today (Madison Mallards in Wisconsin). They're going to have the following ex-players there to sign autos! Minnie Minoso, Jim Gatner, Bill "Spaceman" Lee, Dave Kingman, Vida Blue, Goose Gossage, and others! WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!! I've never attended anything with an opportunity to get live autos. I'm so excited that I took the day off to gather my old cards of these players to get signed. Took me forever to find a Bill Lee. I've also got a nice '53 Bowman of Minnie to get signed.

When did Madison lose the Black Wolf? They were a Northern League team for a few years in the mid to late 90's.
Are the Mallards actually "minor league" or are they independent (as were the Black Wolf)?

"For me, playing baseball has been like a war and I was defending the uniform I wore, Every time I put on the uniform I respected it like the American flag. I wore it like I was representing every Latin country."--Minnie Minoso
Minnie didn't make it, but they had Harmon Killebrew. It turned out to be an "allstar" exhibition game - with Madison Mallard alumni and some of the retired players. Bill Lee can still pitch!! He's a cool guy.
The Black Wolf folded several years ago. The Mallards are part of the Northwoods league for top college players with NCAA eligibility.
Here are the autos I got:

What does the "337" mean on the Bill Lee card?

That was his "desired" uniform number - look at it upside down.
What did it cost for the autos?
Killebrew was a nice switch! He has one of the nicest sigs in baseball IMO.
Did you take any personal photos?

The autos were free. Sorry no photos.
Yeah, Killebrew is a real gentleman. Jay Johnstone was great too. It was a neat experience.
