Wrong back cards

Can anyone tell me if PSA will grade wrong back cards. I sent a 41 Playball Lefty Gomez in and they did not grade it saying there was no holder available and I got the standard voucher. Obviously they have holders for 41 Playballs. The card is a little oversized, but they still could have used the dreaded condom holder. I am guessing that they just don't grade wrong back cards. Anyone know? I called customer service and got no answer. The rep was clearly little more than a receiptionist. Thanks.

    Stud,

I've been curious if PSA would grade a blank-back Puckett I've got. It would probably just come back "Authentic" or something...

they do grade wrong back cards- there are examples in '49 Leaf baseball and boxing, and probably others. But on anything unusual they will reject it first, then you need to plead your case. When that happens you can send it back in and they will grade it once they have been approved to.
In general I don't think they grade blank backs, except cards that were meant to be blank backed- Old Judges, '41 Goudey, etc. I have a '67 Maris proof that was issued with a blank back and it was graded authentic, but that is one of the rare exceptions for an unusual card. The use of an "authentic" grade seems to be applied randomly and probably in a case by case basis. I"m betting for a modern card like the Pucket they probably won't, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Either way I really doubt you'll get a numerical grade.
On the '41 Gomez you might want to contact Joe Orlando with a scan. I've found him to be extremely helpful in cases like this and very responsive.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Thank you, sir! I probably won't waste PSA's or my time and effort getting it graded then...
