Another Handling Fee?

I just won an e-bay auction and received an invoice for my card. The shipping charge for the card was listed as $2.00. In my invoice the seller stated that there is a seperate handling fee of $5.00?? The card was not graded and was a good buy (assuming it hasn't been trimmed) Can a seller add another $5.00 charge onto a card if it is not stated in the auction?

Not supposed to add fees not detailed in the listing.

Lots of sellers still do it, though.

  • NO they cannot do it. If any of you have paid a fee not stated in the auction you need to have your heads examined.

I have paid the "blackmail" a few times, if I wanted the item,
and wanted to "keep the peace." Of course, the seller never
gets another shot at my cash.

In this case: Maybe you should ask the seller if he will guarantee
that the card has not been trimmed, if you pay him the extra $5.00.

  • That is BS!
If the seller wants to add a handling fee he better mention it and what the fee is within the auction description. If I was a buyer and some seller tried to pull this on me, I simply tell him that I won't pay it. If he wants to void the transaction, fine! However, I'll be darned if I would allow him to file a NPB with ebay without a fight.

I'm one of those people thatl will make a big deal out of these type of things regardless of the small amount of money involved. I'm not cheap (I'm actually a big spender), but to me, its all about the principle.

Send Ebay a copy of the innvoice asking for the seperate handling fee of $5.00 and let them deal with him.

Ditto Rich....Trucking companies get away with that kind of BS, but eBay sellers, no. I'd write and ask exactly what they are "Handling" for your extra 5 bucks. If they stonewall you, I'd suggest not buying from them anymore, or it will cost you another 5 every time you do

  • Ryan--
Please PM me his ebay id. Gotta add him to my list.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

I would under no circumstance pay the fee if it wasnt listed. Refuse to pay, and if he has a problem simply send the blackmail invoice to ebay.

Please send me their ebay ID also so I can add them to the " dont even f-ing think about getting my business list "

I'd like to add him to my blocked seller list, too. Certainly don't pay the fee. Maybe send him a link to this thread instead.

Excellent idea. Maybe if more of these scam artists and thieves knew a site like this existed they would think twice about trying to pull a hose job like that.

  • Here's an idea.....

Just tell him that you have a $5 fee for all undisclosed $5 handling fees!

No way would I pay that - and, I bet if you questioned it, the seller would back right down.

  • I would not pay it and I would file a NSS on the seller if he refuses to follow through with the original price and then neg his butt
  • So Ryan, what did you decide to do? I sure hope you told this idiot seller a thing or two!

  • I would never pay that.
  • NO WAY JOSE would I pay it. With every auction I look at, I carefully inspect all shipping fees & other BS. And if he did not state it, NO FREAKING WAY!

  • Update:

I ended up getting a hold of the seller and the seller and I agreed to add a $2.00 insurance fee (which was not offered) to make sure the card got shipped safely and securely. I wanted the card so I gave in a little. In the future, I'm going to pass on this seller.
