WTF -- PSA is back to using the "0" cert. #???

Just got back an order from PSA -- TODAY and they graded my cards with:

1 06370275 1993 FINEST 102 FRANK THOMAS REFRACTOR 10
1 06370276 1993 FINEST 102 FRANK THOMAS REFRACTOR 9
2 06370277 1993 FINEST 199 MIKE PIAZZA REFRACTOR 9
2 06370278 1993 FINEST 199 MIKE PIAZZA REFRACTOR 9
2 06370279 1993 FINEST 199 MIKE PIAZZA REFRACTOR 9
2 06370280 1993 FINEST 199 MIKE PIAZZA REFRACTOR 9
2 06370281 1993 FINEST 199 MIKE PIAZZA REFRACTOR 9
.........

Does anyone know what's up with this?

  • I just had my 1st 12 graded and they were "316" Does this number mean the grader?

That would be very odd. They haven't done a "0" cert in the last four years as far as I've noticed. I checked the certs and 06370281 is the last one they have in this run of numbers (no 06370282, 06370283, etc.) Also, there are none listed immediately prior to 06370268 (no 06370267, 06370266, 06370265, etc.) When I start to run into valid cert numbers (06370254), they don't have a grade listed (N/A). Maybe these are numbers they use for autographed cards?

Hopefully this was a numbering mistake and they'll go back to the non-zero certs quickly.
  • this might be a dumb question.. but i've always wondered if at some point they would run out of cert numbers.. the only solution my feeble mind could come up with was that eventually they would have to make the cert number 7 numbers and a letter or something like that.. like A1234567... i'll let someone better with numbers figure that one out...

It will be ahwile before they run out of numbers.......they just hit 9 million graded........hence they still have roughly 91 million more numbers to use before they have to go to a 9 digit serial number.

These aren't autographs. It's really strange, isn't it?
