Do you think my crappy GAI lot will sell?

This is not spam. I'm trying to get an idea if this would even sell, and since I no longer have any confidence in GAI
anymore; I'm trying to dump the rest of my GAI cards in one lot.
I basically want these out of my house and I'm of sick of looking at them. I used to have about 300 of these cards and have sold a bunch 2 years ago when GAI was hot and new and crossed over about 50 cards to PSA or BGS with great success in the same grade. I just don't want to spend anymore $ to crack and do crossovers. If I could state that these cards were graded by god, I would.
Would you buy this crap?
I'm even willing to take a loss, since I'm selling it lower than what it cost to get it slab. Pretty sad huh?

Good luck to you. Hope that you get more than you wanted!

Aside from PSA, I hardly even look at the auction page.

I'm not familiar enough with hockey to answer your question, but why the lack of confidence in GAI?
  • GAI still holds weight. The lot might have been better off breaking it up into a bunch of 10's or 9.5's at 9.99 each, but the listing fees would probably eat up a lot of the money. You might get a guy with bucks buying it as an investment. Cards like these I usually sell individually because kids want to own a 10 or 9.5, no matter what the pop, but dont have the bucks to invest in a big lot. You should have no problem selling the lot......

I think hockey is the slowest selling sport to begin with and 50% of my buyers being Canadian.....they're thinking "who, what the hell is this" makes it even more difficult to move. I think what's really funny is, when GAI first started.....I was their ONLY hockey submitter for the first 6 months LOL.
  • Newer hockey is definately tough to move, esp. some of the things that are graded. I just think a lot of the newer "more common" stuff is purchased by kids trying to build a good collection. You'll probably get your starting bid on the lot, but you are cutting off a lot of kids who would gladly pay 15.00+ for a bunch of the cards, and counting on just a few people with the bucks to throw down on the whole lot
  • If anyone here buys this lot, I'd be interested in the Michalek SPX's
    Always buying 1984 Ralston Purina PSA 9s and 10s I NEED 19,21, and 29!!!

I've thought about selling them individually and it may come to that if the lot doesn't sell. You'll be surprise that most of this stuff may not even fetch the 9.99 starting bid from past experience, and it's really hard to lay down a 9.99 starting bid on some stuff when the raw card itself books for $30 - $100. Stuff like that, I would have to just settle for low raw bv to try and break even and take a small minimal loss.
  • I know that when I'm doing searches, I might come across a couple of GAI or PSA 10 rookies, and I'll put them in my favorite places to keep an eye on them to get them at a nice price. A lot of kids know it costs at least 10 bucks to grade a card, and getting a 10 makes it even more desirable. I just cant stress enough that those are the people that would want to pick a couple cards out of the lot and sock them away in their collections and show them off to their friends. Still, a couple of people probably wouldnt mind plunking down the starting bid to be able to break it up and do just that........
  • Another positive sign on the lot is you already have over 80 hits on it and it has almost 8 days left. I realize a lot of hits are board members (I checked it out and normally I wouldnt punch this up in a search), but I've had auctions run in their entirety and not had 80 hits. You might end up pleasantly suprised at where it ends up....
  • I always do searches for GAI cards for the sole reason of cracking and crossing over to PSA. I know I'm not the only one who does it. I think this lot will sell--I wish I had the cash right now because I would buy it in a heartbeat...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Pesonally I think this lot is sweet, and I can't imagine why it wouldn't sell for $450. The Brodeur alone is worth $50, I've got to think the rest of them are worth at least 400.

80 hits at 2:44 pm and 238 hits at 9:40pm -- not bad. Hope the auction has a happy ending for you!

Does the "1st Graded" designation add any prestige or bragging rights??

It used to, but not anymore I don't think.
There were buyers in the beginning that loved that designation
and the 1st designations were getting premiums. Those days
are over with. I must say that it is/was a great marketing ploy by
    global. "Wow, I got the 1st GAI 7 1983 Fleer Ron Kittle...ooohhh".
