Here is the link.
check out their new negative.. on the same damn card
this does not look good....
Usually, PSA is pretty EZ/generous on the backs.
I am sure it is a nice card and that the seller is a fine person,
but in general, when an eBay seller tells me how a raw card
is "going to" grade, I pass. There is NO WAY anybody "knows"
how a card will grade until AFTER it is graded.
If a seller really thinks a scarce card is going to grade "a 9 or a 10,"
why does he not submit it himself BEFORE trying to peddle it?
Also, those plastic capitol-holders are sometimes used by
evil dealers to hide creases and other defects. A pretty
safe rule is not to spend too much money on raw cards
through eBay.

Based on the above link, I hope you used PayPal.

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. I asked my husband if he could mail it for me and I just called him to ask him where it is and he said he forgot but does have it. I (personal info deleted) and was in the hospital last week so I had my husband try to pick up the pieces, watch the kids, come visit me and stress about me while I was gone. I will mail it out to you first thing tommorow and I am going to go ahead and refund you $10.00 because I feel really bad, it's been a week and I don't like to conduct ebay that way. Once again, sorry. "
then, i was refunded $10 as promised thru pay pal (wasn't necessary but i'll take it i guess).. am not sure what to do or think now.. the seller and original buyer both seem like good people from where i sit and both had perfect feedback until they clashed.. maybe i'll just take a nap
thanks
one funny exchange a few pages in:
buyer: a little slow in shipping, but the item was nice
response from seller: a little slow in clearing, but payment was there
haha
Bait and switch?
We'll see, but the seller seems OK.
Maybe the scan is better than in person. I have been learning that lesson lately in buying raw 59s. No more raw vintage on Ebay for me except from dealers, and then I'll probably buy from them direct with a good return policy. Too many chipped edges and surface junk that doesn't show. Even e-mailed a couple sellers who of course said there was nothing.
Best of luck.

Mint?
From this pic? The card be anywhere from a 5 to a 9?
Fuzzy pic, average ebay FB?
Sincerely? There must be a ton of Montana RCs that come up on ebay every month?
Then again, I'm incredulous, tired, annoyed with people at work, out of Bud and there's no decent leftovers in the fridge!

Sorry didn't answer the question - the centering on the back is not that bad IMO but there's no way to know whether the obverse is a 10?

i already have an 8.. and a 9.. and a couple 7's..
no guts, no glory..
Yeah montana, trust everyone here, stay away from raw modern on ebay.

last spring, i actually tried to snipe this card in psa 10 on ebay.. the smr is $3350.. i sniped it at $4405 with 10 seconds remaining.. and i was outbid.. at that point i gave up on buying one already graded and decided i would have to submit my own if i was ever going to have a gem mint montana rc.. then i bought a 67 mustang with that money instead and have been fixing that up and i can live with my psa 9 if i have to.. if this one grades low though, i will keep trying. gotta have it..
thanks!
ps - unfortunately, i already bought and paid so your advice not to buy it comes too late... was an impulse thing.. stupid more than likely.. i guess anything less than a 9 and i got punked.. time will tell
card's seller.
She has a 14K Seiko watch for sale. Claims it weighs just
under 20-grams. (She does not say if she weighed the band,
the case, the back individually.)
She wants $150.00 BIN, says she paid $675.00 two-years ago.
If gold was ONLY @ $600 - which it is not - here is the VERY rough,
but approximate math.
600 X .585 = 351
351 / 3 = 117
117 X 2 = 234 (-gram calcs)
$216.00 = ballpark "full-melt" of "as described/implied" item.
No matter how you slice it, the "full-melt" value of the item is more
than the $150.00 BIN. (The only non-gold parts of the watch if
it is real, would be the bracelet-link couplers, the SS-back, the guts;
they do not weigh much.)
Now since we know that most folks do not give away gold, and
since we know that even if she sold it to a "gold-buyer" he would
probably pay her a little more than the $150.00 BIN, it seems
that when we minus out the eBay/PayPal fees, the proposed
BIN transaction does not seem to accrue to her interest.
Thus, either the description is "incorrect," or she is selling "kinda cheap."
And, maybe she just wants to make friends. And, maybe she just wants
to get cash fast. There are all kinds of reasons that people sell stuff.
The "genuine" designer handbags are problematic, too, when I try to
gain ANY "confidence" in the integrity of the Montana card.
Again, I am NOT saying there is anything wrong with the seller.

Must have gotten a refund.

Your picture scares the hell out of me. I'm going to stare at it for two hours next time I make my special homemade brownies.
Also, I'll be sending off a 93 SP Montana that has a good shot at a 10. I'll let you know when I get the grade.

LOL. Did the -EV give me away?
PS- Don't tell stevek. He may start thinking less of me.
on a side note: $150 for a purse?!?!? crazy what people spend their money on isn't it?? (haha)
thank you all very much for the input
when the card gets here i'll post high res pics.. i'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt until it arrives.. then we'll know if i've been hosed yet again..

Ummmm, maybe. If 4sc or DSL states that (which they never do), I would believe them. It's not a guarantee but it's probably likely to grade that.
I just sold a stack of 1974's with some traded's that I am positive had plenty of PSA 9's in it. I've submitted about 4000-5000 cards in my life so I know what I'm looking at. I stated the probability of PSA 9's in the auction description. The buyer paid good money and was happy with the lot. The reason I didn't grade them? The last PSA 9 1974 Topps Traded cards I had on ebay went unsold at $4.99. Why bother.
Although, if I had a Montana that was a lock 9, it wouldn't get sold as raw on Ebay. So, my scenario is a little different.
I'm psyched for this year's WSOP. I've alotted myself $10k for 4 tourneys between $1,500-$3000 buyins. After I finished 6th in a $1,500 buyin at the Borgata in AC, I'm all confident in my tourney play, but we'll see what happens. I'll probably blow it all, but the great thing about Vegas is that the booze is free and there are always hookers.
Lee
p.s.- If my girlfriend is for some reason on this board and reading this post, I was just kidding about the hookers.
<< <i>Was stevek the guy who went on a rant a while back about how nobody can play poker online profitably? I've been doing it for four years as my only source of income and I think I do pretty well. Maybe I'm just the luckiest guy on the planet.

Yes, that is the same guy. I actually offered to make a $1000 bet with him that I would end up + after 10,000 hands at any online poker room of his choice, but guess what? He declined. Then I offered him 2:1 on that same bet, and guess what? Lol.
I won't be at the WSOP, since I suck at tournament poker. But let us know if you're going to be on TV!
<< <i>The good news is that if you get an 8 on the card, I know of a few submitters/dealers who bid well above market for well-centered 8's. I've seen the bidding reach around $130-150, so you should be able to get most of your money back. Just list it with a high fixed price and eventually one of them will bite. >>
But why would a dealer pay that kind of premium for a well centered 8?

Next to sports - the WSOP is just about my favorite thing to watch! Last nite a caught a scene on ESPN, it was the US Poker match and Matusow was berating a guy for jumping on a bet on the river with an ace and the guy had a pocket pair and had quads. Well, a little while later Matusow calls a bet with a pair and the guy had quad 2s - Steve Danneman was at the table - everyone went nuts on "the Mouth" - cause this guy was supposedly playing immensely tight and Mike should have "read" that.
I play "free" side online - it's a hoot!

I thought I knew poker, but I have no idea what you just said.
Yeah I saw that. If I was very shortstacked and had almost no chance at placing in the money and somebody called me an idiot to my face, I would probably be taken from the casino by security and have an impending assault case. I wonder if Mike the mouth verbally insults people when he's out drinking in bars, because he'd have to have taken a lot of beatings by now.
As a side note, in the AC tourney I placed 6th in, I was sitting next to Danneman for a good 4 hours or so (he finished 7th or 8th), and we chatted it up. He's a really down to earth guy who enjoys playing and doesn't take it too seriously. Too bad those types are too few and far between.
Boo,
Tell stevek that I'll take a much larger sample size of 250,000 hands and lay him 15/1. How can anyone think that no one's winning at a 10/20 NL table because the site's taking $3 out of every pot? That's not even a third of the small blind. Brilliant argument.
