A new VAM fresh from Leroy. 1921-S Morgan

My 1st. Discovery coin!


Purchased about 7 years ago in Wa. state, finally took a good look at it recently.


The description of the new variety is as follows:

1Y IV 1 D2a ( die wear lines above STATES #2 ) I-2 R-6
Obverse IV 1- Very slightly doubled right stars and RIBUS UNUM towards rim.
Reverse D2a- Raised lines from denticle edges into field above ATES O due to die wear. Single line from each denticle instead of two of VAM 1L.

Leroy did notice the die crack and wrote:

<< Yes, has die crack in same area as die gouge from wreath to I in UNITED of VAM 1K. But the coin has die crack slightly lower thru bottom of I than 1K.>>

Interesting vam, when combined with 1L. Something unique went on with 1921-S for certain.
