  • Of course, I like all the coins that I buy, but most of the time I don't bother to image them to post here. Most are common and wouldn't draw much interest, I figure.

I could care less if my coins impress people here. In fact most of my coins are nothing special except to me. That has'nt stoped me from posting them here.image

  • I don't.... I collect for the fun of collectiing...most of the coins I own are not the quality I see here most of the time.

I just post stuff to practice my photo-taking skills. Ego has nothing to do with it.

How about specializing in photos of crapy coins. Impress people with the quality of imaging and not the coin. image

At least it is something to do when we can't afford the really nice stuff.

Good idea. Unfortunately, I have a cheap camera and my digital skills suck. So...I have to settle for posting crappy pics of crappy coins. Pity me... image

  • I have yet to post a pic here...
  • In all honesty, I have yet to spend ALOT on a coin.......Of course, I have spent a bit on exonumia for historical purposes, but, I think to date the most I have ever spent on a set of coins at a single purchase was probably the 58 proof set with orginal mint packaging, envelope, letter etc etc As far as exonumia, DO NOT ask what I paid for a full set of coal scrip from Whitby WV as I had to assemble the set a piece at a time. I have had some very generous offers on the set and, I bet you guessed I said no..

So, BIG money on a coin? Not yet. HOwever, one day, somewhere, I will buy the CC dollar or double eagle.

Just learning the tricks of photographing coins is a hobby in itself. Who cares what the coin is? It's fun just to see how accurate you can get.

JC...you do use a small tripod or rig of some sort, right? How about posting one of your favorite pictures, regardless of what the coin is? image

I can see the pictures better than the coins.
