That's the VAM 1A, not to be confused with the VAM 1Bx "Thornhead" series.

I love the thornhead series. I have three of them now. I found one of them a few weeks ago at the local shop, right before he sent a bunch to the melters. Now, I own two 1B6 and one 1B4a.

VAM-1A the "BU Die scratch" was relabeled VAM-6A. I sent Leroy a coin that I noticed doubed stars, motto and the upper reverse so he reclassified the VAM-1A to 6A for the doubling. I also sent a coin with a grease filled mint mark that looked like a 21-P but hat the faintest remains of the S mint mark along with the BU gouge. This is now VAM-6B. If you ever find a BU die gouge look for the missing mint mark to see if is much more elusive VAM-6B... a really cool coin!
