    Well I guess after failing to sell his fake one three times, even though he lowered the price twice, he felt he would have better luck if he used the picture of a real one. Interesting that although he claims to be lowering the price because he must sell it, now that he has a picture of a real one the opening bid is $500 more than the BIN price he had on the fake the first time he tried to sell it.

    Considering that none of his other offerings are significant, I would probably have given him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was just clueless and really thought grandads old coin was real had been handed down in the family generation after generation if he hadn't then pulled the stolen image and "photoshopped" slab trick.

    I see he found a sucker for his ICG slabbed Roman coin as well. It failed attract a $50 opener twice and then he gets someone to bite on the $90 BIN.

    Holdering a coin in a counterfeit PCGS holder is a crime, possible forgery, and th eattempt to sell it for $7500 or more is attempted grand larceny. Rather than just bemoan the state of things, isn't there something someone on this board can do to get the listing purged by eBay and to induce law enforcement to investigate and arrest and indict?

    I don't think it's a counterfeit PCGS holder, the seller just photoshopped the label and holder.

    The holder does say "PCGS" in the bottom corner but the label is all scwewd up.

    The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing.

    Yes it's wire fraud and if sold mail fraud, Federal crimes. If this clown was getting away with it, then I'd think Ebay would refer this to authorites--but the problem with ebay and prosecution is Ebay invites all these spoof sales. How could the jury take them seriously with all publicity like "the Dorritos/or toast/or cheeseburger in the shape of Jesus", and other joofy stuff they allow??.

    Photoshopping an authentic PCGS holder and thereafter posting an image which contains false or doctored information while representing
    the image and holder as authentic constitutes forgery. We as collectors really need to do something about this type of conduct.

    Well he has gotten rid of the PCGS slab and he has dropped the price back down, but now the coin has been "professionally cleaned" as well.

    Considering he has been trying to sell this thing for at least a month now to bury dear old grandad he'd better hurry up. He's probably getting pretty ripe by now.

    I'd report this item, but from what I have heard, when you report an item, eBay comes after the reporting party and not the person reported. Did I read that in here or in RCC? Someone reported an item and eBay closed down the reporter's items.

    That has NOT been my experience, and I do a great deal of reporting to Ebay.

    Those who were booted from Ebay after reporting others, had done something wrong themselves, and/or were unwilling (in some cases, justifiably so) to provide additional account verification to Ebay.

    We should all e-mail him and ask him if this is the same coin he offered the other day in the fake PCGS holder....
    Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

    Have your friend write back and say:

    "Gee, I only have $2500 to spend. Its a shame I can't have that coin."



    See if he bites and trys to sell it for 2500. If so, his claim that a dealer offered him 3000 is totally a sham.

    Yeah, same here.

    Who got tossed at rcc for "reporting" to ebay?
    I didn't know that was a NARUable offense.

    Besides, I think I recall a rule that if you whined enough on this forum or at rcc, ebay has to let you back on.
