Recent Cherrypick- Possible 21D VAM-1G LDS,

Would this be a LDS 1G? If so, what is the value of one of these in an AU-55 or so? Thanks.

    Looks like it.

I'll be the first to tell you it's a tough one to find. I have a 1G in MS64 & 65, but they are more Middle Die State+ then Late Die State. The sheet price is around $100 in AU.
  • What about this one?

I could post a couple, but that would be against policy as I have them listed in the BST. But I do agree with Mr. Lee....they are quite a tough find.

I DO however like the presentation that you did for the coin...VERY NICE!!!

Great coin, looks like my high end ones. I can look through the break and see the surface underneath. Middle Die State, close but not the Late Die State.
  • Thanks dude. I appreciate the help.

  • I agree that JC's coin is not an LDS example. You can see a depression in the center of the "hook" above the S so the break has not fully formed.

On Mr. Spud's coin, I hesitate to call it LDS. I'd have to see it to tell if the center of the break is all the way filled. My impression from the photo is that it is not. An LDS will actually bulge up in the center like the pics below.

Don't forget to check out the cool depressions below the denticles! Nothing EDS or lds about these dents but they are a reall cool feature unline any other VAM:

I see what you are saying. Mine definately is more advanced than TWODOG's, but doesn't quite bulge up as much as the one that Rob put up. Is there such a thing as early late die state? image
  • I did note the depressions by the denticals...very cool. It's informative threads like this that make this place worthwhile.

In my book, yes. I'd call it late. But Rob would need to see it to make sure.

George Powell found that after the book came out. Just think Rob & I had VAM-1G coins sitting around for YEARS and never noticed. It was quite a surprising discovery!
  • G...Looks LDS to me!! image

How much did you "cherry-pick" it for? (Bein' nosey)

    I don't have one...yet image

But I do have a VERY EDS one and an MDS one so far!! image

The dealer at the coin show charged me something like $18 for it because it was an AU and wasn't blast white like the rest of them. It was in a dirty capital plastic holder with magic marker writing on the holder.
