The coin has more luster than the scan shows

The 1912 was the last 20 cent Newfoundlnd coin struck, and in 1917 the new 25 cent denomination made its debut and were struck in Ottawa.

Yes, the Province of Canada made a 20c piece in 1858.

Isn't it interesting how high prices jump for Canadian and Maritime Provinces silver between VF to EF, then from EF to AU and above?

I have an 1876 Newfie 20 cent piece in F/VF I want to upgrade. I saw an AU example, but I wasn't ready for the price. Oy gewalt!

Hey Shiroh, I've noticed that too, and most Newf coins seem to go up a little bit each time the values are revamped in Trends.

This is true of Victoria and Edward VII coins, but some George V coins are exceptions (George VI coins don't have as big of leaps). If you look at 1917-C to 1919-C 50 cent pieces, AU coins are still reasonable. When it gets to MS63 and above the difference is huge, but that is to be expected.
