What is your all-time favorite card?

Discounting value, historical significance, etc., what card is the most aesthetically pleasing to you personally? I have always been enamored with the 1976 Topps Rod Carew #400. I really don't know why. Speculating, 1976 was the first year I collected baseball cards and the Carew was the first All-star I obtained. That may be the reason. My #2 is the 1977 Garvey #400 and #3 is 1976 Topps #240 Pete Rose. Topps Baseball All-Star cards are particularly attractive to me. I am really interested in hearing some of your opinions.

The first one I think of is the 1985 Topps Gooden. It was also the first card I coveted. I've always liked the 1971 Topps Reggie Jackson also.

My first favorite card may have been the 1962 Topps BB Julio Gotay because of his glove and the colorful billboards in the background. I've got a few favorites on the list that make it hard to pick just one. If someone put a gun to my head and said "Pick one or else!", it may have to be the '87 Donruss card of Kirby Puckett. His smile on that card says it all.

Any card from the 1965 Topps baseball set. I loved the pennants on the cards and the photograpy was great.

For vintage, I love the 1956 Ted Williams. Thats #1 on my want list.

As for modern I love the 1996 Studio Masterstokes Tony Gwynn canvas version. It's like a mini painting, really sharp. I got my card autographed and it's one of my favorite autos.
    Looking for Carl Willey items.

Two cards I think look great, neither of which I've ever even held in my hand.

I never really was a big fan of cards with multiple players on them, but one card I love is the 1968 Topps #490 Super Stars (Killebrew, Mays and Mantle). I cant remember who had that card on here with the sigs from all 3 players on it, but it was jaw dropping. If memory serves me, he had two of them too! I'd like to get my hands on one of them.

The 1956 Topps Mickey Mantle card. Not the most valuable but an absolute classic. I like it better than the 1952 Topps in terms of appearance.

1964 Pete Rose Topps "All Star Rookie" and 1969 Johnny Bench. I love the gold cups, they are cool. . .
  • williplettwilliplett Posts: 471 ✭✭
Boy, there are so many. That 76 Carew is way up there, in fact that is my brother's favorite card. The 1982 Fleer George Brett has always been right up there. The 77 Kingman as well. Of course the 71 Munson and the 53 Pee Wee are always tough to beat.

For a long time I was a collector of this subset...but never was really able to find a definitive resource on them (checklists, the like).

Favorite two cards are 1971 thurman munson and the aforementioned 53 bowman color pee wee reese card.

The 1974 Topps Carlton Fisk is great (as is the 1982 Topps Fisk in Action), the 1975 Topps Tiant, and my all-time favorite the 1957 Ted Kluzewski.

When I replied earlier, I was thinking modern. All-Time? It's gotta be the Red Man Bob Feller (yellow 53?) and the KING of CARDS for me, the '52 Topps Mays.

If I had a T-206 Wagner, that would definitely be it.......but since I don't, I really like the Carl Yastrzemski 1960 Topps. The red white & blue pennant/flag around the circle picture is really cool. Funny thing about that card, he is listed as a 2nd baseman.

  • << <i>1989 Fleer Bill Ripken & 1972 Topps Billy Martin (just kidding)

For me yes 1989 Fleer Bill Ripken !! Around 15 down about 5 more to go.

    Modern:
1969 Topps Mickey Mantle (great photo, much like most of other cards in this set)
1984 Donrsuss Don Mattingly (sentimental favorite, but nevertheless a really sought after card for non-HOF)
