What darkside coins work in penny stretching machines?

My daughter is building a collection of elongated cents from places we visit. Last time we used a dark 1963 Canadian cent and had a great outcome.

What other foreign coins work in penny-stretching machines?

The Swiss 2 rappen is almost exactly the same size as the Lincoln cent.

From the UK; the Decimal 5p. after 1990 would work (18mm, 3.3 gr.). This, of course assumes the machine can't handle much over the ~19mm dia. of a cent.

I doubt my wife brought any small change back from Schweiz.

I think 2 euro-cents work... don't remember if I tried it

I sure wish the Churchill Crown would work in the stretching machine.

I think copper half farthings might work - they're 18 mm. Sixpences might be a bit too big at 19.5 mm.

Might the harder copper-nickel alloy cause a problem?

If you've got the guts, all of the 20 Franc/Lire 0.1867 oz. AGW European gold coins are very close to the Lincoln Cent in diameter.

If you don't have the intestinal fortitude, I'd guess the old British Farthings should work.

Thanks for the replies. You've all been much more helpful than the litesiders.

I wouldn't want to try gold (just in case it got stuck in the machine). I'll see if I can fit a silver coin or two into a quarter-stretching machine. I think I have some slick shillings or francs that should work.

Ray Dillard does these, and at the ANA in San Francisco, he had mint sets that were stretched. He will stretch or squash any coin up to 50 cent size.

He is great with kids, and a pleasure to talk to. He will even make a special design for you and provide you with about 2,000 stretched cents for about $250. Just what your daughter needs.

Thanks for the info. If I'd have known about how reasonable it is to have special designs made, I would have had 2,000 stretched cents made for the Michener-Worthington 100th family reunion last year (even though I didn't go).

I hope my daughter continues her interest in elongated coins. Maybe she'll collect real coins in the future.
