1866 NGC Two-cent piece, Proof 66 BN
Date purchased: October 2005 Obtained from: Jeremy Katz (airplanenut)
Description: Only 725 coins were minted! A gorgeous looking brown coin, with color apparent in the right light and angle. The obverse looks absolutely perfect, and I see just one very small mark on the reverse. I hate to part with this coin. $850 delivered.

1861 PCGS Half-dime, MS64 ON HOLD
Date purchased: April 2005 Obtained from: Greattoning (Mr.D)
A beautiful civil-war type coin, with pleasing blue and green surrounding the obverse edge, and a purple reverse border, with a splash of blue-green at the extreme edge. Lots of ‘stuff’ happening on the reverse of this coin as well. I see a minor scratch on the obverse, otherwise I believe it would be graded higher than a 64. Note that the pictures are much larger than the coin, so you won’t see this type of detail in hand (naked eye). $475 delivered. ON HOLD

1862 ANACS Half-dime, MS62 ON HOLD
Date purchased: April 2005 Obtained from: Greattoning (Mr.D)
A beautiful civil-war type coin, with a stunning colored obverse! Green, purple, orange, you name it, I can see it! Same beautiful colors on the reverse, although a bit more splotchy. I cannot see why it is only graded 62, I see this as an easy 64, with only one minor mark on the obverse that I can see. A must see coin. $275 delivered. ON HOLD

1870 PCGS Half-dime, Proof 63 ON HOLD
Date purchased: August 2005 Obtained from: Local show
A dark coin in hand, but under light some astounding deep blue and deep green at deep periphery, and light purple and blue center on the obverse. The reverse is identical, with the center an even lighter shade of purple patina, but strong deep color on the obverse. Sorry, no picture on this one, but full return privilege on all coins. Only 1,000 minted. $465 delivered. ON HOLD

1941 NGC Winged Liberty dime, MS67
Date purchased: January 2005 Obtained from: jbstevens at FUN show
I really, really wish I had a picture of this coin. If I did, you would know it well as I would have posted it a bazillion times on the boards. I wanted it immediately, but balked at the cost for a ‘measly’ MS67. I saw it right before the PCGS lunch at the FUN show in 2005, and while there met Blade (Tom) on the boards. He had seen the coin as well, and was also thinking about buying it. The race was on, I beat him to it, and I think he’d agree that this is a stunningly-toned coin. Another reverse-holdered merc with electric blue and purple on the reverse. The obverse is lighter, but a closer exam yields some green orange on one quarter of the coin, and some bright blue and purple on the neck. Another coin that seems to get better with age. Sorry, no picture, but I think that if you buy it, you’ll be the one posting this monster on the boards. $300 delivered.

1892 PCGS Barber Quarter, MS64
Date purchased: June 2005 Obtained from: Local show
Mottled green toning around the obverse periphery, with a slightly prettier reverse adding some red and blue to the mix. I think you would agree that this is a strong 64, a nice example for the type and grade. Sorry, no picture but full return privilege. $500 delivered.

1940-S PCGS Walker half dollar, MS65
Date purchased: April 2005 Obtained from: Wayne Herndon
An absolutely unbelievable colored coin, showing every shade in a truly funky pattern on the obverse. Blue patina covers the reverse with an occasional color dot similar to the obverse. Please look at the pictures, they speak for themselves. $1150 delivered.

1904-O NGC Morgan dollar, MS66*
Date purchased: May 2005 Obtained from: Peac**kcoins
Holdered reverse forward, and you can see why once you look at the exceptional red (and gold and orange) obverse. There is also some blue and green around the reverse rim. The obverse is nothing to scoff at either, with a half-ring of purple and blue around the obverse edge. I swear that this coin just keeps getting better with age. Obviously NGC thought it was nice and awarded it a star designation. Colors not as dark as the picture indicates. $580 delivered.
