1968 Coke Bottle Caps - Twins version

Does anyone remember seeing or reading about the Coca-Cola bottle caps with the bb players underneath? I have a set of the Twins version and was wondering if there were other regional issues. I had two sets and sent one to a guy years ago for his research, but haven't seen or heard of any published articles on the set.

Here's a scan of the lower half of the sheet they are glued onto:

Sorry 'bout the plastic wrap I used to protect my scanner bed...

Thanks,

These are cool. I believe each team is represented and they were made for a few years in the mid to late 1960's. The All Stars were distributed nationally and in areas that did not have a major league team. The individual teams were distributed regionally. The All Stars are much easier to obtain since they were distributed everywhere. There are a number of variations in the caps such as the kind of pop (Fresca, Tab, Coke - Etc.) along with different types of caps used. In the Twins set the Rod Carew is the most difficult to obtain since it was only made in 1968. There were Football Caps made too.
Always looking to buy old Minnesota Twins and Vikings memorabilia like Nodders, Photo Pennants, and Photo Buttons.

The caps are neat, but a very limited following for them. To my knowledge, no one grades them (although I bet GAI would). Caps that show no sign of ever having made it onto a bottle go for huge premiums. Somehow, some of these unused ones made their way into the market. Caps with very little wear from removal that were then stored properly over the years are also desirable. The majority of them are found with notable removal wear (generally a crease right across the top), and often, they are found with rust of varying degrees.

Wow! Just the kind of information I was looking for. FYI, the top half of the sheet contains a baseball diamond with caps containing "tips" on how to play baseball.

    A nice memory...

    Thanks for your tips!
