I'd give you the world, just because...

Speak to me of loved ones, favorite places and things, loves lost and gained, tears shed for joy and sorrow, of when I see the sparkle in your eye ...
and the blackness when the dream dies, of lovers, fools, adventurers and kings while I sip my wine and contemplate the Chi.

  • The price on that one has been in the $400s for a while reflecting scarcity and a popular set. Like the 03-D in 68, one has to try to make one at PCGS to appreciate how hard it is. I tried with 35 03-Ds that were the best I could find out of dozens of rolls and many dozen mint sets and got back 33 MS66 for my troubles. In time, even these will pay for themselves as these coins are just plain tough in 66 and above.

The genius of PCGS is the relative consistency in their high-grade grading and their recent reluctance to hand out 67s and especially 68s in SACs, SBAs and Ikes (well, for Ikes, 65s and 66s). If they don't rock their boat the way ANACS has rocked their boat, all wil be fine and these scarce high-grades will continue to show their true value. PCGS plastic made it possible but it misses the point to say this is all a plastic game. Rob

I'm looking to maintain a high quality set in Sacks but given some high prices in the ms 68 grades I just might have to settle for the ms 67....... That seems funny....ms 67 still is a nice grade !!!!!!......................image

I guess one could put a bunch of cow dumplings

in a bag, give it a grade of MS-68 and someone

    will buy it.

At one point, I had around 80-85% of the pop of this date in MS68 as I recall. I sold most of the coins between $365-$425 and they sold easliy from week to week. The collector base for this series is sooooo broad though that most of the coins I sold became permanent fixtures in collections. Now, to buy one it looks like $500-$700 might be needed as I suspect very few collectors will be dumping their coins anytime soon. Just another example of a modern PCGS top pop with super strong collector interest that has enjoyed a nice increase in the past year. Not to mention, this coin is very difficult to locate in MS68 from my personal experience. A semi-key date to the series in MS68.

What's even worse is that the one in that auction is not MS68 quality.
