I need your opinion on ebay buyers

Hi everyone. I have 2 auctions up now for 2005 american eagle gold 4 coin and a 2003 $50 gold eagle. I have the same person with top bid on both but they are a new member as of 2 days ago. can I cancel their bid? should I? they have no feedback history. Any help would be great.

After the auction closes, and if they win, wait for a cleared payment before you ship. Give them the benefit of the doubt. Everyone was new once. If you end up having an issue, just block them in the future and contact Ebay.

Why would you want to cancel a top bid? Weren't you ever a new member?

Every ebay buyer/seller started out with 0 feedback. Unless he has bad feed back, give him a chance. If you don't want new ebay members bidding on your items you should state so in your descriptions, otherwise...let it ride.image
  • Unless you state in the item description that bidders with less than a certain amount of positive

feedbacks are excluded I feel that it is unethical to cancel their bids. IMHO. If they pay then all

is dandy, if not then you are just out your listing fees. Give the new guy a chance. A positive

feedback rating starts at 1. We were all there once.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Give the Newbie a chance. I thought as you did, then the Forum members made me see the light! image

  • Thanks for everyone's input. I'm gonna "let it ride". I guess I worry too much.

  • On second thought...it seems 2me that this guy is currently into many high priced auctions.

High bidder on auctions totalling $21,932.01 as of a few minutes ago.

Do an advanced search by bidder and let me know if I'm correct or not.

You may have reason for concern afterall, but chances are he is hoping

to be outbid on a few and is just lowballing.

    WOOOOOW,
If this is right you may want to email him, and warn him to calm down. As a newbie, he may have bid on a lot of auctions, thinking he will be outbid. If he's not outbid he's screwed. At best he might wind up with a bunch of negs from sellers that allow him to back out but are mad about having to relist there items. And thats no way to start on ebay. assuming he really is a newbie, and didn't just win powerball.

    Agreed.

You can get your final value fee refunded if he defaults. You can relist the items and get the listing fee back when they sell the next time around. The only downside to giving this guy a chance is if he wins then fails to complete the transaction you are out some time.
  • I have had 2 or 3 auctions where the winners had 0 feedback. Granted the items for sale were not as expensive as your proof gold, but that isn't really the issue here. These transactions were as smooth as silk. It's really cool to give somebody their first feedback. As others have stated, give them the benefit of a doubt. All your gonna lose is a little time, but that can be positive too. The price of gold may take a significant jump if/while you go through the npb process.

Wait for payment to clear before sending the item. We were all new members at one time or another.

I have had bad experiences with new bidders, especially those who (1) just registered, and (2) are bidding large amounts in multiple auctions. When I sell something worth more than $500, I put in the item description that all bidders with zero or negative feedback will have their bids cancelled unless they email me prior to bidding.

It takes a long time to get your final value fees back from ebay when the buyer has no intention of paying.

If you accept paypal once your auctions close, be wary, many 0 feedback bidders who run up thousands in auctions pay with paypal, once the items are shipped, they somehow have paypal reverse the funds from your paypal account, Ive seen this happen time and time again for big $$$ .. image

I would email requesting contact info as well as making sure he seems on the level, on a high priced item sometimes its better to not take zero feedback bidders I dont unless I contact the person first. If it is a low cost item i dont worry too much I just wont except several bids from zero feedback bidders
