Question: Have you been contacted by lurkers outside the forum for coin advice?

RYKRYK Posts: 35,797 ✭✭✭✭✭
I have had recent email contact from a couple of message board lurkers seeking coin advice. It's a little bit creepy because the lurkers know considerably more about you than you know about them. My most recent contact turned out to be pretty sharp, though. After grilling me extensively on an ebay auction coin, he disregraded my advice completely.

  • Not for advice, but I did have someone email me with info pertinent to a thread about specific auction
coins (they were the high bidder on one of the coins in question). I posted the info to the thread and
invited him to join the boards, but he just wanted to remain in the shadows.

Only "michael." He put me through the ringer before I figured out what the hell was going on. I was at the time, and still am, a bit of a rookie.

With that being said, I've got a couple o' years under my belt on Connecticuts.image

If you Google your handle, it's shocking how much info there is on the net.....image

A few months ago, a new patient came to my office. During our conversation she asked me if I was into ham radio. I said yes and asked how she knew. She Googled my name to check me out and it came up with lots of radio-related links.

Yeah, it appears I'm in some kind of trouble and don't even know it.

Holy Canoli, I just Googled JRocco and discovered a lot about myself. First off there is a JRocco ebayer---not me, but it did have a link to one of my girlfriendsimage
I hope it is OK to put this here------- users.drew.edu/jrocco/

Occasionally I get PMs from people who I don't normally deal with, looking for advice.

Sometimes those PMs are the result of referrals from other board members. image

I don't use email much and don't open anything unless I know the sender. I used
to get a lot of apparently numismatic subject email so no longer display the address.

If anyone PM's I'll help if I can
