1965 Philadelphia cello pack

I took the plunge yesterday and bought a 1965 Philadelphia 12 card cello pack from BBCExchange. I also bought a 1978 rack pack, 1980 wax rack pack, 2x 1983 cello packs and 2x 1986 rack packs for $400. No too bad - and the Philly pack is the most expensive that I've ever bought. I'll open the pack tomorrow night (assuming it comes tomorrow) and open it live and post the results!!
Wish me luck.

Good luck Greg! Cellos scare the chit out of me.

Sounds like fun Greg.
Here's to you pulling a couple of the following Hall of Famer's Rookie cards :
Paul Warfield
Mel Renfro
Carl Eller
Paul Krause
Charley Taylor
Of course, a Jim Brown or a Johnny Unitas wouldn't be too shabby either.
Looking forward to it ...

<< <i>wow steve hooked ya up! Don't all those packs listed separately cost over $500? >>
The pack I bought is actually graded GAI 5.5 - but looks as nice except for a slight tear on the front (he already deleted the posting for the pack). I asked Steve, who said that pack doesn't appears searched and the corners of the cards inside appear sharp. We'll see.
Regards,
Greg M.

The pack from his web site looks the same as the 1967 Philly cellos I opened many years ago. Are you sure those are 1965's?

BTW Packcollector, I haven't heard from you in awhile. No new football for me?
Dam I hear one of those 1962 Topps Baseball wax packs on that same website page calling me. Gonna most likely windup costing me money, especially knowing that the packs could be resealed, but I don't know if I can resist

never claimed to be an expert but when I buy something I do a ton of research and learn all the details of the cards/sets etc. therefore Iwas just offering info that would be helpful , then you guys wonder why people keep to themselves on these boards.
for everyone else who would like to learn something about philly football, here goes
I was fortunate enough to buy 2 deals , one of 64 and one of 66 philly football a few years back. one from the the son of the original owner who found them in his dads office . the other from a dealer who bought 2 rack boxes of store inventory that was stored for 30 years. many cards in the top sets came from cards I graded. there is nothing like walking into a coin shop that has a card wingand asking for philly football and the guys says I may have a couple and he walks out with an 800 ct box of dead mint rightout of rack cards. I almost fell to the floor
the cards came distributed in 4 ways , traditional wax, blue cellos , rack packs of 3 10-12 card clear cellos and bulk 100 ct bags . I have not seen them from all years but I have seen wax and blue cellos from all years , racks from 64 which had a brittle cello outer wrapping similal to the cello that was used on the individual cellos. 65 racks have a plastic outer wrapping , I have seen this on the james bond racks and football racks. have not seen racks of the 66 and 67 . the 100ct bags were bulk bags with a mini football used as a marketing tool to move more cards. have seen 64 and 66 of these
here are some pictures , will put up a picture of the 100ct pack tomorrow as that is on my pc at work and I will try to find my scans of the other year blue cellos.
Nice story! Thanks for sharing the scans of packs I've never seen before and will most likely never see again!

I was completely joking and just making a pun off your name. I appologize if it came off anything other than a little humour as I meant no disrespect.
