What is your "Dream Coin?"

Thought it would be neat to see what people's "Dream Coin" would be. You know, the one that people could drown over because of the river of drool coming out of your mouth. Yeah....that coin. Just post here and watch the rivers start flowing....
Mine would not be the rarest, or the most expensive, but I would look at it every 5 minutes or so...forever....and that coin would be an 1909-S V.D.B. graded MS-69 (Only because 70 is too much for my heart), PL with Cameo-like Devices....Mmmmmmmm....drool.............FIRE RED and luster just dripping off that hottie....so red it's almost purple...........sweet dreams!

  • I guess a 65rd 26-s Lincoln. It still might be available and I could probably sell my entire collection for it, but not sure if it'd be worth it. I like having a collection.

An 1894 Barber Dime from San Fransisco. I will never own one, but I like the history/story.

This coin has history, mystery and top pop behind it. It doesn't get any better than this. Just my opinion.

Nice list--I actually gave this list to a BIG dealer in 2003 at ANA and said I wanted--one phone call on the 1794, but I need to keep my house!! Do have an outer space coin, a 1921 Zerbe' "proof", but have never seen the 1921-D for sale (I thought there were only 12 actually engraved (one at Colorado Historical Society)--100 given away total. Guess if the lottery was good to me I go with the Child's 1804/1834 Proof Set.

    1848 CAL quarter eagle.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

All good choices of course; for me, it would be a "perfect" (meaning even the most traditionalist finicky collector would realize they don't come any nicer) XF 1793 chain cent, or an XF 1794 dollar. Maybe a bit of lean towards the dollar due to the metal and size, but yeah, I'd take a 1793 chain in that shape, too. image

Now come on Perry - if they wouldn't let J.P. Morgan buy the 1849 double eagle, how're you gonna get it? image

A Sac dollar in PCGS PO-1, because that would mean I lived one helluva long life.

Seriously, the singular 1893-S PCGS MS62PL dollar. I have not seen it but PCGS has (and I will take their assessment in that case) and I need it for my set.

One coin I really would like to have is a 1797 16 star dime. Also would be nice to have the companion half dime and quarter.
  • So many nice coins, anyone drown yet? And yes, this is the post to dream....dream to own any coin you ever wanted. A place to get a smile on your face and realize, even though we can't have ewverything we want, it's nice to know we can always dream about it! Some of the pictures are great......drool................

My dream coin (that actually exists) would be a 1856 Flying Eagle (Snow 3) in 65. I'd settle for a strong 63 in any varriety, though.
