Not a bad price for a non-coin!

This isnt a legit auctuion something going on here. The last purchase the high bidder made was make-up and childrens clothes. Not what I would call a $15K coin(??) buyer.

How much do they normally bring? This one seems overpriced for a noncoin.

After nosing around, seems Anaconda is selling one for $3500 though no picture: 1900 SC$1 NGC MS63 Lesher Dollar Bumstead T2 #976 . Searching around some and doing some more research maybe a good idea. Also there maybe a few members here that could shed some light too.

The last I knew there were 17 varieties of Lesher dollars known and some of them are "common" bringing just a couple thousand dollars, and some are extremely rare and will bring ten thousand or more. (At least two varieties are unique) A fellow collector in one of the local clubs collects Lesher dollars and he just recently had one returned to him by B&M that was stolen from him something like eight to ten years ago. It was one of the $10,000 range pieces and it had been consigned to B&M. They checked with a collector in Colorado who keeps a census of the Leshers to try and get some pedigree information on it and found out that "Yes, I know that piece. It wwas stolen from Mr X of XX Indiana back in 1998.". B&M contacted him and he provided them with the police report. About three years later they returned it to him.

The underbidder's bids certainly look suspicious. Nice round numbers and then suddely pulling back to an odd number to which the next advance would be exactly $15K.

Very reasonable shipping for a $15K item.

Hmmm I wonder if the coin sold for a tad more than expected!
