Grades in on 42/41-D Mercurys

Just hung up with ANACS, they said my coins graded VG8 on one (not unexpected as it was pretty worn) and AU55 on the other. Was hoping for an MS grade, but anyway...

Can I get some prices what I should sell these coins for?

I ordered Graysheet this morning so I'm a few days from seeing any numbers through that source. Plan on putting these on Ebay I guess.

Both are ANACS authenticated 42/41-D's

  • I'm not real "high" on ANACS lately....... I'd suggest sending them to PCGS / NGC in the ANACS holders to "cross at any grade"....... The increased marketability / perceived value will FAR outweigh the costs.

  • According to the January 06 Graysheet Supplement:

    VG bid/ask is $425 - $475

    AU bid/ask is $1,200 - $1,325

The AU price assumes AU-50, so you should get someting north of that range for the AU-55. Also, check auction archives on Heritage and Teletrade -- if there are a few recent closed auctions on these, those prices would be more relevant.
  • I believe crossover grading is a worthwhile idea too. I thought some price opinions would be benefical to know, even while in the current ANACS slabs. Might get a better grade too if lucky.
