plug has been pulled on order status information

Apparently, someone in authority noticed that we noticed the "live" links to serial numbers given to our submissions in progres sometimes linked to grades before they were actually posted.
When I checked my submission status page this afternoon, the contents of each of my open submissions no longer list the various coins they consist of, or the serial numbers assigned to them. Now, all that is shown is the date received, the number of coins in the submission, and the date shipped.
Bummer.

When in doubt, don't.

<< <i>what harm was there in having the info?....its not like you wasn't gonna find out anyway. >>
Exactly!! At least you could maybe contest the grades BEFORE they went to the expense [to the submitter] of mailing the coins back.

It's no expense to them to mail them back. And if you contest the grade before they send it back they have to review it and if they still agree with their first opinion it doesn't generate any additional revenue. If they send it back first, you have to resubmit it for review and if they stand by their opinion they get to collect another grading fee.
If they do change it really doesn't cost them much (30 seconds of grader time and one slab shell). And since you have to pay shipping and insurance fees both ways just to get them to review it, you are not likely to do so unless it is a truly greivous error. This cuts back on the number of non-paying submissions in the system allowing them to concentrate on the paying sbmissions and get them through a little faster.
So it makes sense not to let you contest the grades while they still have them.

Sorry; I should have been more clear. Its a hassle and expense for me to have to send it back. If I have one coin out of 50 that I know is a 64 and they call it a 62 I would rather just pay the review fee while they still have it rather than send it back. Since there seems to be some general consensus that 5% of PCGS coins mite be undergraded and 5% overgraded its not out of line IMO to request a review BEFORE they return it.

Stuff it, Wolf. I had no idea this was "clandestine" information. Blame Marty, too, he started it all!

Don't pin this on me! I was just showing that the compleated orders were now available!!!
What you were seeing was preliminary results of information that was not finalized. Coins go through multiple stages of verification after that point and the grade can change. Obviously we don't want to display incorrect information.
It's not a matter of us not wanting to show you the information, it's a matter of the information we were showing was (potentially) incorrect. We got plenty of calls from folks who saw their grades there and then when the coins did finalize the grades changed.
You can still see full order detail of all of your past orders and for current orders once the grades are finalized and verified. The change we made was to not show the order detail of orders where information was still in flux.
Thanks!

Yeah, but it was very cool info. Not only did we have early grades, telling us coins were downgraded or updated in final is very informative as to which coins should be sent back in and which don't have a
prayer.

Something tells me we would have seen grade changes ALOT more frequently when the value of the coin was high... and alot of downgrading as well.

Me either. I thought it was a new, and very cool, feature. Bring it back! I need the entertainment!

Yeah that's what I thought, too. And it helped pass the time, because my order is taking to darn long to post!!
<< <i>how can a seller price a coin based on the population if it is incorrect? >>
It's easy. Start it at 99¢ and let the market decide.

David R, it would be nice if at least a listing of the coins on the submission (without grades) was provided -- it would be a nice way to confirm that all the coins from our submissions are accounted for.
Good call on the showing of the coins. That's how i headed off a bunch of coins they had entered as sms. Saved a month of contact and lots of shipping money and hassle. I have been through that dozens of times and it is nice to see the coins and what they entered.
