I don't see the mispelling as the biggest problem. The ad sounds so negative with all the "WON'T", DON'T", and so on that I would never even think of bidding on it and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I understand why those things are in there, but there is probably a better way of stating them.

I think the way it is currently worded is going to turn a lot of people off.

    really?

#1 won't and don't appear only once ...and both in the statement concerning selling outside of the states...thats your negativity?

#2 that hassle i can do without!
no sense in beatin around the bush when trying to sell...i mean why sugar coat the word no?...it won't lessen the impact!

You have a nice coin and I like how your mentions the board. I'm just telling you that the overall tone of your ad is negative and that is a big turn-off to buyers. Take my advice for what it is worth... or don't.... you are free to choose! However, I think you would benefit and make more $ if you put a more positive voice in your ad.

I would start with the positive things about the coin and conclude with something along the lines of "I am happy to take personal checks....etc, but unfortunatly do not accept paypal or credit card payments at this time."

Yes, you will probably still get the occasional yahoo that trys to pay with paypal, but those people are going to do it anyway, no matter what you say. Is it worth alienating other bidders just to discourage the few morons?

I'm not trying to rag on your here, but I know what I'm talking about and just wanted to help you out as a fellow forum member and Lincoln collector.

well i guess we must be at a impass...as liittle as i sell on the bay...i've noticed that most people won't read the ad...unless you hit em with a hammer...if it makes a few people reach for the pepto bismol cuz they're upset and tuned off by my ad ...so be it ...my loss is the eventual winners gain.

at least you and anyone that does read the ad knows exactly where they stand with me...i'm seldom happy when i recieve a check
because that has potential to make me very un-happy ...most people feel the same way i do ...they just won't state it for the record.

lifes to short to allow checks to "make me happy"

my grand kids make me happy...a full nights sleep makes me happy....(as i am a horrid insomniac)

not taking pay pal is not an "unfortunate" circumstance...and i'll not lead them on by saying "not at this time" like i might at some time in the future...nope i'm 100% sure i'll not take pay pay or credit cards...now your sure too.

most people are respectful of a square shooter that lays the whole magilla out in one straight to the point..... no gray area deal.

theres too much political correctness and touchy feely in the world as it is...musn't alienate a prospective bidder (for the next buck up)

thanks for the input ....duly noted.

  • Dicky, I was going to PM you to make sure that you’ve seen this Mozeppa’s stuff, but I see you already found it.

  • I like the "TO THE POINT" ad.
But then like you i agree that there is way too much PC BS going around for me.
