Is it circulated or uncirculated? If it's circulated try grading it yourself first. Get a Photograde book. Uncirculated get the PCGS Official Guide to Coin Grading.

Is it a problem coin (cleaned, holed, scratched)? Try ANACS and submit it yourself.

Is it a key date or just a nice coin? PCGS or NGC. Dealer might have to send it in. ANACS you can do yourself.
