POLL: PCGS & NGC Registry Set Pictures, where are they?

I just looked at the PCGS and NGC Registry Sets for Bust Half Dollars. There are hardly any coin pictures for us to enjoy.

Am I to conclude that most Registry Set coins are purchased for the plastic, and the true grade and look of the coin is not as important as the grade on the holder?

That must be it. Afterall, it couldn't be that the set owners don't have the time or skill necessary to add images to their sets.

I agree, and it's unfortunate, though, not everyone with a registry set does so for purely 'competitive' reasons. Some of the top ranking sets that are well illustrated are by people who just want to share. I started a registry set and will add more as I find time to develop it. I don't care what it's 'ranking' is, all I care about is sharing it with others. Anyway, I simply couldn't afford a complete set of Capped Busts MS 64 and over. But then again, I could afford an MS 66 Norse Medal but just bought one in MS 63 because I thought it was far prettier and less common than anything I've ever seen before. So, grade is, at least to me, small consequence. I only got to that point in my collecting life after spending a fortune on coins, selling the whole lot and taking a sabbatical.

Well, I wish more people would set up registry sets with loads of pictures. A really nice thing to see. No matter what grade...I think.
I even like reading different collectors notations on their coins. Not 'this is a flawless beauty' because nothing is flawless, but 'I love this coin' means a lot more to me whan looking at what someone else has because I know it has great meaning to them....and I like that.

This is the first CU POLL I started. I just noticed that I forgot to put "POLL" in the title to attract attention. It is now there, so maybe Sunday morning it will get more action.

I would very much like to be able to see nice pictures of the Registry coins.

I enjoy seeing some of the sets in the Registries that have pictures. But, I am pretty sure the registries are used by people for a number of different reasons; competition, to show their collection, to keep track of their collections, etc. I don't think I can either agree or disagree with the poll. It depends too much upon the collector involved. I also agree that a lot of people may not have the resources, time or ability to take pics of their coins for the sets and that probably adds to the lack of pictures.

There are some other sites out there that devoted to letting you upload pictures of your coins, set descriptions, etc. Although, I don't know of any others that are competitive in nature like the registry sets.

No high grade stuff in my set so I guess the plastic number is not the reason.

I have my dime set imaged. Nothing for me to hide. I also started a buffalo set, and that set is imaged.

Now it is a pain in the *** to image all those coins, and upload them to the set. If you look at my sig line you will find a link to my dimes with images.

that do not make sense nor are provable.

Your efforts are well appreciated. I especially liked the fact that all the images were the same size ( I wish I could say the same about my images ) and the pictures are very well done.

I think that alot of others would be more than happy to post their images to their Registry Sets, "if they knew how to ". It took me quite awhile to figure out how to do this and I'm eternally grateful to Tyler Child for showing me how.
