it's not. The 1909 D VDB is worth over 1 million dollars!

There weren't any cents minted at Denver in 1909. It's more expensive than the Philadelphia because of the lower mintage.
The 1909 VDB I believe had 28 million minted, where as the 1909 S VDB had only 484 thousand
<< <i>Both collected by Lincoln Cent collectors......one is 28 million the other is 484 THOUSAND.....Supply and demand... >>
I think it's a lot more about demand with the 09-S VDB... ever notice that there are always a lot for sale, yet they still bring big prices? I believe it's because many people saved VDB cents, but the Lincolns are probally one of the top 3 most popular series, so there is still a tremondous demand for the 09-S VDB despite a relatively high supply...

Several millions. Isn't this (and the 16D Mercury Dime) one of the most counterfeited/altered coins?
Any time you have the cash you can very easly find either at any major dealer in any grade (with in reason) that you want.....
but the price is always way way high for a not so rare coin.
EDITED TO ADD: WHEN I hit the lotto I am going to buy up ALL the 1916 SLQs from vf on up and make it a truly rare item.
make a hat band out of em or something.
