A. the coin is dead surface wise. can you even see any luster?
an XF40 coin should have SOME.
B. Pay greater than 2000 for a dead coin? no way.
this is why I hate looking at D coins. RYK will say it again and
again...
he will gladly pay all day, 2500 for a true original looking XF40 D half eagle, but they are rarer than a 1854S half eagle almost.

A very nice coin that looks XF-40 to me too. It does not look like it has been cleaned, i.e. it looks original.
