I am officially in on Heritage! What a blast it was last year with all of you and now it gets to happen again! No way I could visit these boards during the ripping frenzy and not be a part of it! I just ordered a case from lrcards imageimage

Sorry I felt the need to start a thread but I am pumped up!

Glad you're on board. I can't afford a lot of boxes so the more trading guys on here the better. May I asked what you had to pay for the case??

I pre ordered 4 boxes from my hobby shop. Will start with those and probably go retail from there. Hopefully between that and some trades I'll get close, ebay the rest of the way. Worked out last year at least.

Was $549 delivered from lrcards. Seems to be a OK price this late in the pre-sell. 68 and change per box...... anyway, I may splurge for a tiny bit of retail also. I am interested in a master set minus the chromes and refractors. Those I will trade away to complete my set. Can't wait!

Congrats. These are the cards that got me back into the hobby. Next week we'll all be checking UPS tracking numbers so that we'll be home when they arrive.

Anybody hear any gossip other than what's been released in the sell sheets?

That's about the going rate I'm seeing from eBay. I actually got my 4 boxes at $55 a box, but I preordered from my local shop back in mid December. He (sadly enough) doesn't buy many more sports boxes, it's all in yu-gi-oh so he ordered these boxes for me with basically little to zero mark up.

Had I known they would be $70 three months later, I would've mortgaged the house for a few cases and set us all up.....or at least stuck it in your a$$es for a nice profit. image

In reality, four boxes is my spending limit for awhile. I won't do the chromes or refractors either so hopefully some of you multi case guys can help us little guys out with the sp's. I haven't purchased four hobby boxes in the last 6 months, so the idea of getting 4 in the next couple of weeks has me REALLY excited. can't wait!!!

I have been watching these cases for two weeks on e-bay and when they did go for under $549 the shipping got ya. lrcards is offering this price delivered. Anyway, as usual I dragged my a$$ on the pre sale so 68 bucks per box it is! image

Right now, the cheapest case I see on e-bay is $545 but with 24.99 shipping. Also there is $549 cases with $15 shipping.

My dealer (I'm in for three cases) says next week he'll send me a tracking number and I should get them either on FRIDAY fEB 24 OR MONDAY FEB 27.

Last year the cards came when he said they would. Problem was they were the wrong cards. Two minutes before the UPS guy knocked on the door, the dealer calls and says their was a mistake in shipping. Basketball cards were sent by mistake. I reshipped them to him and he immediately retified it and I got the cards in two days.

Incidentally, the dealer is in upstate NY. The card were shipped from Tennessee to Massachusetts. Go figure.

Welcome aboard! I paid the same for my 2 cases coming in. I will also be hitting 3 Walmarts and a couple of Targets for the retail. I must be crazy but its just too much fun!

This is the first product in YEARS that I have actually enjoyed opening. Not only that...its the only product I have opened other than a few packs of other crap here and there by at least a decade.

yeah spending this money on modern is crazy but who cares! Its too much fun!

Mike, perhaps you will pull a 1 of 1 cut sig and sell it? Then you can buy as many boxes as needed!

Some numbers for you - just going on the stated odds and some fast calcs

2005 Heritage had per odds 4 chrome parallels per box.
Taking into account there are 3 parallel sets numbered to 1956, 556, and 56 with 110 cards each, that means a total of 282,480 chrome parallels
AT 4 per box on average we get 70,620 boxes which grinds down to 8,828 cases

2006 Heritage will have per odds only 3 chrome parallels per box.
Taking into account there are 3 parallel sets numbered to 1957, 557, and 57 with 110 cards each, that means a total of 282,810 chrome parallels
AT 3 per box on average we get 94,270 boxes which grinds down to 11,784 cases

FWIW - Topps has run the printing presses on it this year. This doesnt mean it isn't gonna be a great set, just do not overpay as there is gonna be a bunch of it floating around. I know of several case busters who are getting 10 to 20 case lots to ebay master sets the first weeks and SP's the rest of the year. Wait and you will find deals mid summer when these guys have cut throat each other to death.

I've really been thinking about jumping into the Heritage frenzy this year.

Just a quick question for you guys though...

I'd like to build a master set (basic plus SP's), and am not really interested in the inserts (maybe the chrome, but I'm not going to open all the wax to get the set). How many boxes would I need to get reasonably close to a master set (filling in what I need with trades and ebay)? Is Hobby or Retail the way to go? Right now I'm thinking probably 2 boxes of Hobby and maybe a box or two of Retail.

    Thoughts? Thanks, Ryan

Also....Somebody really needs to start a master Heritage thread like last year.

I was looking at a couple of boxes of these last friday and I could have picked them
up for 66.00 a box, then I went back to check yesterday evening and they had hit
78.00 a box, I'm considering one of those cases off ebay for 539.00 any comments?
Of course being careful about who I buy it from as well.

Something else I'm curious about what are the odds of making back what you invested
in say a case? Has anyone seen the stated odds of pulling the famous AU?

    Hi Ryan
    It's hit and miss.

Been doing Heritage since 2001 and every year is a little different.

I have found where I intuitively think that certain commons run "regionally" with respect to frequency in a case.

Last year I did a case and still needed help.

The THC set of 110 is very difficult - I did a ton of trading to complete the chromes set. I still haven't finished the set from 2004.

If you sell on ebay, you can unload the Black chromes to help pay for retail boxes.

A couple of years ago, the retail booster boxes of 11 packs yielded 11 SP's or an insert of some kind. Last year wasn't as good.

The hobby boxes are supposed to have some kind of "box only" insert on top of the packs and you have a chance at the 1/1 autos that will not be found in the retail.

Otherwise, IMO, retail is just fine.

You will need the help of board people to complete a "master set."

Good luck and may all your pulls have autos!!!

I really like the design of the cards, I put together the Topps Turkey Reds and IMHO those are some of the nicest
cards I have seen produced, something about the texture and the old fashion design look. Oh well if nothing else it
should be fun, of course my wife thinks I'm nuts. I keep trying to tell her she buys her shoes and I buy my cards.

Heritage is the only product I've seen in some time where you don't have to hit the "homerun" to come out pretty well.

Sp's and chromes sell for $3 to $10 early on and the stuff is only $2.99 a pack. Of course, the frenzy will die down after some people start completing their sets.

Also, two hobby boxes won't get you close to the complete set. I think there are usually 100+ sp's and variations. If you get 1 in every 2 packs, you'd get 24 in two hobby boxes, leaving you well short.

Of course, the idea then is to trade your chromes and inserts for sp's from other board members, sell any autos you get for another box, pick up a retail box or two, then buy the last 10 or 15 on eBay.

I promise it's a lot of fun though, hope you jump in.

Last year was my first Heritage year. I bought two hobby boxes and 4 retail complete boxes. PLENTY of trading and buying later I had my master set complete with ALL subsets , the entire lightback set, and the Flashback RELIC subset. The icing on the cake was pulling a Paul Minner blue ink auto out of a pack which I did not sell as it highlites my master set. Trading my chromes and chrome refractors away helped me out big time.

Really, this product is just SO MUCH FUN. I think it is the best issue of any cards available AND worth the money. But thats just me image
The amount of interaction required with members of this forum to complete a master set is HUGE. Unless you have 4 for 5 cases headed your way!
