84T BB Rack packs (with pics)

So today the mailman brought some 83T baseball rack packs. The cards were really nice condition and overall pretty darn good centering (which is always nice to see).

Here's the best of the bunch:

The Mattingly and the Ryan definitely like they're worth grading.

Definite shot at some 10s in my opinion. The top left corner on the Gwynn looks a little touched, and if the Rickey didn't pull a 10 it probably wouldn't cover grading fees. Sweet 84's!

Title states 83T, but should be 84T.

Decent shot at 10s, but all depends on that top left corner on the Gwynn.

  • Yup, just took a closer look at the corner of the Gwynn and it's not good. I should have scanned the other Gwynn. image I also have 2 more Ryans just about as good as the one on the scan.

Luckily, for only pulling one Mattingly I sure got a nice one!

Thanks for the comments - and I'm hoping for 10's too!

  • Awesome centering on these cards! I've got to see how my '84s compare. You sure seem to make it look like all of'em are well-centered! (Did you get ANY off-centered ones?!)

    Thanks for sharing,

    hh

Overall the centering was better than I've seen in a long time. All the "big" cards had great centering. Of the ones I picked out to keep, the worst have probably 70-30 centering. I am really pleased.

That is great centering. I've busted a few 1984 rack cases and have had a hard time finding a nicely centered Mattingly. The one that I did find centered graded a 10 though. Those cards definately have shots at 10's.

84s, did someone say 84s??? Nice cards, some possible 10 canidates there. I have not seen a Boggs or Gwynn PSA 9 or better on Ebay in quite some time, still need those for my set. Seems at this point it is mainly star cards that are up for auction, not really any commons for this set. Buying has slowed down over the last couple of weeks because of this. Are you looking at doing this set graded?? I am on the fence on really continuing with this set or not?

Is that a crease on the Henderson, at the top left (goes through the bottom and top right of "T"), or just from your scanner?

Looking for Jonny Gomes cards, especially Triple Threads and printing plates. Will consider all cards, though. Got something? Contact me at c_u_l_1@yahoo.com

Sting, there is no doubt this task you are on would HAVE to include ALOT of self submitted cards. At last glance it seemed almost half of the cards in the set had no PSA 9 representation. Although I don't post much I have been very interested in your progress. Either way you choose to go is great! AT least you have blazed a path for someone else to take it up eventually.

  • I cracked a nice wax box and I'll be submitting all commons (within the month) that I think have a shot at a 10. Sting, i'll let you know how it goes
