1983 Topps baseball "Michigan" wax boxes

Has anyone cracked one of these? How do the cards look? How are they packaged? I know that they don't use wax paper. Are they wraped like 1989 Score? 1991 Stadium Club? 1989 Upper Deck? 1990 Skybox? Airtight?

Getting a box of cards w/o having to worry about the typical "manditory" loss of 1 wax stained card per pack sounds pretty nice, but I know that nasty gum is still in there though.

They are wrapped in plastic like the 1988 Score packs. The pack is a little loose with crimps on the end.

Any common problems related with this issue or this package?

Not that I can recall. The heavy crimped ends protected the cards well.

  • I have opened a few boxes. The perceived advantage to the Michigan type pack is the lack of wax stains. However, I have noticed that several cards per box had significant edge damage due to the crimping of the pack. As a result, I think neither style of pack has a significant advantage over the other. I would buy which ever is cheaper.
