    Well - I know that this has been debated on this message board before, but I don't consider auto racing a sport. Yes, it's grueling and all. But, in my opinion, it's just not a sport. My opinion anyway

    but she is still an athlete by definintion.

    Well it could be that she did more for furthering women in her respective sport this year than any woman before her. She did lead a lap at indy (the first woman to ever do so).

    Still, hard to overlook Annika...she's just so dominating.

    At the beginning of the 05 season, during the Indy time trials she was involved with a guy her age, engaged also I think.

    After the season she suddenly up and married a guy in Arizona(?). I think he is almost twice her age and there was some connection like he was her personal trainer or physical therapist. They got married and made a standard press announcement with no other explanation.

    I don't exactly agree with the pick but you can make a case for her. She did get most of the press.

    I think one of the beach volleyball chicks should have gotten it.
