My father had a collection of old postcards, this is one from around 1914.
It gives exchange rates for German East Africa coins.

I have only this one although the postcard company probably made many.

A very nice specific coin related piece-items like this are great to collect along with the coins.

Very neat. I think I've seen pictures of them before, but never actually seen one. Are the coins embossed, in relief? It looks that way, from the back of the card.

These are from a different printer, but similar theme/style.

    kuhli's cards are really neat!
I wonder if the German printers made one for US coins?

I just love those post cards-what a great thing to have in a binder just in back (or with) the coins to support the actual pieces. Also a great tool when creating a numismatic display. I wonder if other countries did that same thing...?

  • OMG that's cool. I saw a series of them by a dealer who had over 100+ cards sold in a set if I remember right, although I am not too sure if it was a complete set. The price tag just put me off image

I wonder if any companies would do a modern version of such postcards. I mean, it would be cool if we could just send such postcards around the world as a greeting card and show them how one's current coinages are like in their home countries.

    Cool postcards!

Since our coins aren't made of precious metals any more, I don't think they could publish exchange rates that would last more than a few minutes of currency trading any more. image
