Just another crappy day on Ebay! Some !##%@% stole my photos and description!

Ive had a 1955/55 Double Die penny up on Ebay for five days (its a ten day auction) and today a potential bidder on my auction informed me that there was another item up on Ebay with the same pics and portion of my auction text. Bast@rds!@ So i report to ebay (live help was of course useless) plus the auction ends in 10 hours ( a one day auction scam) so they wont take action until its over and done with.

Any suggestions?

ive followed the typical Ebay reporting procedures (their stellar customer service, click, email, click, waste time, click, dead letter office, click, well get back to you in a week, click, thank you come again,!)
This is my listing...
and the Fraud auction is number: 8361487697

  • Be the highest bidder and ask them if you can send them a M.O after the auction?

Just email the bidders and let them know it is a scam. This is against Ebay rules, but I have done it before for other people and Ebay never said a word about it to me. Its too bad you arent hosting your own pictures... image
  • hmm, i do have the photos posted on my photobucket site...

so if you rename them to say......a nice porn pic or somethin, that'll show up on his auction......THAT'S against ebay rules and he'll be kicked off (hopefully)......make sure to rename and redownload yours tho..........

edited to say: you may have to re-list your coin

But you arent using them in the auction. He has copied your (Ebay uploaded) pictures. There is no way to change those unless Ebay does it.

Doesn't have to be pornographic. I suggest a nice shot of a toilet, or a pile of dog poop. And definitely give us a link to the auction so we can see what images you decide on!

The pics are not linked to your host.
    Ebay is the host.

  • Well, somebody here on the forum managed to change their picture so that it showed up in the hijacked auction just recently.

I take that back, looking at his completed auctions all 6 that he has on now just recently sold.image
I wonder how many more I.D.'s he has. Link
  • Well, I am happy to report that the Fraud auction is getting a really lousy response and about a dozen Ebayers emailed me to warn me that some bozo stole my pics. I'm also really appreciative of all the folks on the forum who responded and messaged me. It pales in comparison to the lame response from customer service on Ebay.

    Have a good day folks

It can only be done if the scammer is dumb enough to link directly to your picture host. Here's a nice pic to use, should the need arise. I forget who gave it to me, but feel free to copy it and use it as needed:
