They've definitely leap-frogged NEN's pricing....but who knows? With a dearth of gems and increased demand.....It wasn't too long ago that AHM's pricing was out to the moon.....but, they are much closer now to actual trade ranges.
The 1/2 Crown Mac linked has a 2005 Krause value of $150. My 2003 Spinks has it at £100 (~ US$180)
I think this company is trying to extend the high grading price standards of US coins to British coins. To me, it isn't even a very attractive MS65. May just be the image though. But not worth 5x Krause IMO.
NEN has an attractive NGC MS66 for under $500.

That piece is from Cheshire, and one of the nicer pieces. IMO, it would cross to PCGS as a 65. Regardless of what Krause and Spink say, you can't touch a solid, eye-appealing (whether it be toned or just silvery-golden) gem unc. Old Head 1/2 crown for under $450 or so unless you get lucky; on the retail end, that is.
A PCGS MS66 will be considerably more, but the bottom-line is there aren't many out there.
There may be some dates, perhaps even 1894, that are rare in a high MS state of preservation... but that doesn't mean collectors are going to pay $800 for one

It's a nice coin and the best date in the Veiled Head series going away, but the price is way over the top. I believe Heritage hammered one of those last year at around half that price, but sorry, I am too lazy to look it up.
I don't have my Cheshire auction notes handy or I could narrow the focus, but yes, the current ask for P65 quality is a bit ambitious presently, IMO.
Those which are mid-to-high end 65 are seeming to find good footing at about $250-300, and the rare 66 or better quality are comfortably in the $425-550 range, but they are currently few and far between.
Currently, PCGS has certified 38 Old Head 1/2 Crowns as MS65 (29, not including 1893). They have certified a scant seven 1/2 crowns in MS66, (only 6, not including 1893).
Are there more true gems out there? Certainly, but who knows how many. Maybe Aki and friend are sitting on several super gem rolls.
The reports are currently showing the 1894 as mentioned by the cogent coinkat, and the 1899 as the toughest in MS64 and higher [ 1894 lists 1-MS64 & 3-MS65, and the 1899 lists 1-MS64 & 2-MS65 ].
Lastly, the absolute prettiest VOH 1/2 crown I've ever seen (a superb gem) only brought $600 or so at auction.
<< <i>Lot # 2949, 1894 ½crown, NGC MS66 hammered at $250 plus bidder's premium. >>
I guess the poor bidders were looking elsewhere.
Damn budgets!! Obviously, the $287.50 was a good price, IMO. Again, I don't have my notes handy, but I feel that one would easily cross to a PCGS MS65; Figure a 10-20% shot at a 66. I would have noted whatever defects...more later. "Defects" is a relative term also with coins like these.
Those offered by Sylvania are most probably from the many multiple lot offerings of the Cheshire material. Of course, the images Syl supplies are probably abysmal compared to the coin 'in-hand', which doesn't exactly help the asking price.

I guess they couldn't sell it at $45 so they raised the price. Link
This seems a bit more realistic.
Edited to add prices on Teletrade in past year for PCGS MS64: $18, $21, $24, $36. All were white coins, no toning.

I'm sorry, but $225 for a common date even in MS66 is too much. The seller has two examples listed.
