Sammy Sosa and Rafael Palmeiro...

Dear Group,
1157 HRs, 3410 RBIs, 3085 Runs and 5324 hits later, have we seen the last
of Rafael Palmeiro and Sammy Sosa? Would any GM be crazy enough to sign either
one of them to even a minor league contract? With no likely suitors for next season
and the baseball HOF seriously in doubt for Palmeiro and at least a bit of a question
for Sosa, are both headed for baseball anonymity/exile?
Would now be the best time to unload? I can't imagine the value of their cards
ever improving.

P.S. Living in SoCal, I'm rooting for a Angels v. Padres World Series. I can just see
Fox Sports Executives sweating bricks should that happen.

I don't have many Sosas and the Palmeiros I have were plucked out of cheap wax.
And, none are graded - so I will stay the course and use them for kindling when the sun supernovas!

Great line.
Do you think if more and more (which undoubtedly they will find) of the 'cheaters' are uncovered that the statistics will all be considered more valid since it was an 'even playing field' for the last twenty years or so?

Thanks for the insight. With regard to Arny Vee's question, my initial reaction is "no."
If and when more players are caught, that may be representation of a level playing field.
However, I suspect that the voters are more concerned with inflated stats. It's almost a
"but for" question. But for the steriods, would these players have accumulated these
astronomical stats? All these players with 500 HRs, would they have hit only 400-450
HRs and the topic of their HOF candidacy be only briefly mentioned? Would they simply
be grouped among the Jose Cansecos, Dave Kingmans of the world as opposed to the
Mickey Mantles, Reggie Jacksons and Frank Robinsons?

P.S. Of all the active players with 500 HRs, the only player I can recall that has not been
mentioned with steroids is...Ken Griffey, Jr. Hmmm?
P.S.S. Quick trivia question, who is the only player in MLB history to have hit 500 HRs and
have a 6 hit game?

I'd guess Rafael Palmeiro
