I haven't gone out to buy a hobby box yet but this genuine T3 is already up on ebay:

    image

The guy pulled it out as a boxtopper. It's in great shape except for the tack holes and unfortunately, no matter how nice a card is - it gets a mandatory PSA 1 if you get it graded.

I got one box...these are nice cards....I got a Bonds pants card, a rookie auto and a Kotsay 5 x 7 auto bat.

    Kevin

  • Got a case yesterday and sent two boxes to Jackailius. Thanks Josh.

The break isn't bad. Two cabinets and four blankets for the box toppers.

One of the cabinets is an auto/relic, the other a Bonds. The cabinets also come with a cabinet sized checklist which is a nice touch.

Helton, Ichiro, Bonds and Clemens on the blankets.

Found two possible errors. An Ichiro white parallel where the nameplate is blank. Same with a Sosa base card. One of the Ichiro's went for $18.95 on Ebay already.

Boxes come with one GU and an auto, or two GU. Wish they would stick with the former combo. One box had only one GU, nothing else.

A good helping of parallels. White is pretty common, about ten black, and two gold I think.

Five autos. No one earth shattering.

The cards are nice. Will post some scans on Sunday.

arrgghh! I have to wait until Wednesday to open my case. Got my UPS confirmation yesterday; I've been insanely jealous of all the cool cards up on eBay.

I'm telling myself the long wait will be worth it when I pull one of the 1/1 cards so that I can flip it. We'll see

    Geordie
  • Some scans - sorry for the crookedness.

I do not have a handle yet on the SPs and variations. Can't figure out the red cards, since only white, black, and gold, parallels are listed on the checklist.
If anyone knows more please chime in.

    Bonds

    image

    Gerut auto/relic

    image

    Clemens blanket

    image

Gray is base card. Ichiro w/ no name. There is also a Sosa no name.
White, black, and gold are parallels. Gold #d to 50

    image

The reds. There are also variations. The color of the background sky determines the variation, as in the Helton w/ purple sky. Getting more info on these.

Thanx for taking the time to scan all those!

The Bonds boxtopper is actually pretty damn cool. To be honest, I would like the Gerut boxtopper with an auto and no wood chip myself.

I'm tempted to pick up a couple of boxes but then I would want to complete the set! Decisions, decisions, decisions....

  • I agree about the Gerut GU Mike. The bat piece takes away from the look. I'll sell that one and keep the Bonds.
Also selling all of the other GU and autos.

Just building a set w/SPs and variations on this one.

Can't mess around with the parallels. They'll go on Ebay too.

Not too impressed with the blankets. Some have one edge that looks to have been cut by hand. The color could be better also, but maybe they were trying to duplicate the vintage look.

I may buy another case, but have to wait a few weeks.

If anyone is interested in waiting that long, let me know and we can combine our resources.

Got mine for $560 and they're up to $590 already, only four days after the release. If the issue takes off they may hit about $625.

A good reason to wait about 4 weeks to buy.

Well bought a box today, I got a couple SPs and variations. I did get the Ichiro blanket box topper. Manny Ramirez jersey card and Jason Jaramillo auto. I tried to post the auto, a red Johnson #125 w/ purple sky, and white Ichiro #75 w/ no name.

I know this isn't a Turkey Red but it has the same design.. Stumbled into it while doing my daily search for autographs and thought I would share it here. Great looking card.

  • ok, so I'm probably asking a really dumb question here but based on the list of SPs and variations are there actually 3 different cards for numbers 1, 16, 83, 102, 125, 130 or is it one base and one SP variation for each of these. I just opened two boxes and plan to put together a set. Man the cards are be-a-utiful.

Thanks go to Keith for selling them to me. He gave me a great price and got them to me quickly.

Well, finished opening and collating my case. No real earth-shattering pulls, but on a good note, I'm only 7 cards away from finishing up the master set. I even have an extra SP (#260 - Santana throwing)

    First off, here are the ones I still need: 5 (yellow sky) 20 130 (w/ helmet) 132 149 155 270 (purple sky)

I will also need lots of commons for my various Dodger sets. I'm going to do the grey, red, white & black bordered Dodgers, but not the /50 gold borders. If you guys have any of those Dodgers laying around, LMK. One of them, #199 Guzman, is SPed.

    Here's a short box-by-box recap:

Box 1: 17 red borders, 6 white, 1 black, 1 GU (grey border Damon bat), 1 auto (grey border Nelson - Rockies), Soriano blanket (white background)
Box 2: 16 red borders, 6 white, 1 black, 1 gold 32/50 Oswalt, 1 GU (grey border Vlad bat), 1 auto (white border Nelson 134/200), ARod blanket
Box 3: 17 red borders, 6 white, 1 black, 1 gold 19/50 Edmonds, 1 GU (grey border Damon red jersey) 1 auto (red Elbert 43/300), Clemens blanket
Box 4: 18 red borders, 6 white, 1 black, 1 GU (red border Magglio 18/99), 1 auto (grey border Sheffield), Soriano blanket (red background)
Box 5: 17 red borders, 7 white, 1 black, 1 GU (grey border Pujols bat), 1 auto (black border Pedrioa 91/99), Thome cabinet
Box 6: 16 red borders, 7 white, 2 black, 2 GU (grey border Ortiz red jersey, grey border Soriano bat), George Bush cabinet
Box 7: 17 red borders, 6 white, 1 black, 2 GU (grey border Teixeira bat, grey border Tejada jersey), 1 auto (grey border Gerut), George Washington cabinet
Box 8: 16 red borders, 6 white, 1 black, 1 gold 18/50 Sweeney), 1 GU (grey border Schilling jersey), 1 auto (grey Blake Johnson), Johan Santana cabinet

Lots available for trade. I'm interested in almost all of the red, white & black Dodgers, plus the few SPs for the master set.

    Geordie

  • For those considering completing this set, I am hearing that it takes 2 cases to assemble a master.

The good news is that prices are dropping rapidly. Ebay sales have declined very quickly, so much so that I am considering not selling the autos I pulled. Selling just the GU, parallels and blankets, then maybe I'll put together a set with the variations and SPs.

Case prices are down very close to presell already. I'll be picking up another case in about 4 weeks. If anyone would like some boxes or cases PM me.

This doesn't seem to be catching on like Heritage, although that was a slow starter too right?

  • Yes back in '01 right!!!
  • kuhlmannkuhlmann Posts: 3,326 ✭✭
have these hit target or walmart yet?
  • bought some packs at local walmart this weekend
  • Someone asked on another thread about this product going in the toilet.

Interest certainly is not that of Heritage, but for the set builder who likes this issue the prices are coming down quickly.

Cases can be had for $525 and maybe lower right now. Presell was $560.

I think it's a nice card and will put together a set. Selling off all of my GU, autos, blankets, cabinets and parallels. The Bonds leaning cabinet is going for about $50 at the moment.

Tough to compare the turkey reds to heritage. they i assume are a 1 shot? heritage is a yearly thing.

    SD
    Good for you.
  • Don't know about another year. They do Cracker Jack annually but that isn't extremely popular.

The difference of course is the Heritage yearly change of design. Whoever came up with the idea at Topps should get a job for life. Create and issue that appeals to the baby boomers who now have mucho disposable income, then have the product duplicate successive years of the cards they collected as kids.

I'll bet they try T. Red again in '06.

I like the variations, blue sky/yellow sky, uni colors, and the SP list is nice.

Certainly would not choose it over Heritage though.
  • I bought a box, ARod gold parallel and Bonds blanket probably saved the box financially image I was thinking of putting together the set but so far the 2000 or so 05 Heritage cards I have in not very much order at all is showing me I have little interest in set-building image So if anybody has any needs LMK and I'll see what I can find for you.

I could use a handful of the Red parallels, plus some of the white, black & gold Dodgers. I have some dupe SPs if anyone needs them.
