Actually. I don`t consider it a dry spell. You are becoming a more discriminate collector. Instead of buying something just for the sake of buying something, you are going to wait until a piece worthy of spending money on comes along.
Don't let it bother you, man. I've been in a major "dry spell" for quite some time now. I did pick up a couple of Brits from Blackhawk in the past week or so, but I'm looking at my coin selections with a much more critical eye nowdays. I think it will eventually translate into a much smaller, but higher quality collection than I was doing earlier. It feels "right"

It goes that way sometimes, as far as adding Great Britian coins to my collection it is very slow, but I do see more in the realm of GB colonies that do interest me....
I too am now in the dry spell period. I haven't seen too many coins that i want actually out there. Plus my finances have now dried up. So the collection is on hold.
I am focusing on a smaller collection with more quality. I have stopped buying on impulse and have been trying to stay with British territories and Irish coins. Not saying that if I run across something of interest I may but it. Finances are another hitch. Between the driveway and the new car my budget has shrunk. I just haven't found that choice coin yet but the hunting for it is fun.
Haven't hijacked a thread in a while. Micheal is good guy, I don't think he will mind.

I am forced into a dry spell due to the lack of auctions worldwide. As you know, they pretty much shut down from June through mid-September. Then, of course, there are 10 auctions all at the same time and not enough money to go around. During this lull I should really be getting caught up with my book-keeping but can't seem to get motivated.

My funds are being diverted to my daughter's education, a new target rifle, a new section of roof, a new ceiling, and other sundry items.
It will be a long time until I can save up enough for the Waitangi crown.
The problem that I am having is a shortage of stuff that wouldn't be duplicates or affordible versions of the stuff that I am looking for.

People, where are your priorities??
Well, 10 years was pretty good. My driveway looks like Ho Chi Minh trail, but alas it will get me next year I fear.
And then, there's wrapping the soffits/fascias, and gutters, and completing painting on the inside.........
What's a wee poor church mouse to do?

I don't mind at all
I find that there aren't as many nice coins being offered as there were in the past and those that are available are rapidly escalating in price.
My guess is that the good coins are mostly heading off to countries with stronger currencies.
